36 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 27, 1978 <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - STREET AND ALLEY MATERIALS FOR 1978 <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, and Joseph Gawrysiak, <br />Director, Division of Transportation, submitted a request to <br />the Board to advertise for bids for Street and Alley Materials for <br />1978. Detailed specifications are being prepared and will be <br />delivered this week. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the request and <br />directed the Clerk to advertise for bids with sealed bids to be <br />received on March 27, 1978. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - THREE ASPHALT STORAGE UNITS <br />John Baumgartner, Manager, Bureau of Streets, requested that the <br />Board advertise for bids for three asphalt storage units for the <br />Department. Specifications are now being prepared. Mr. McMahon <br />explained that the Street Department has one unit now which is <br />used for hot asphalt patching of the streets. Purchase of an <br />additional three will give the City four units, one for each section <br />of the City. Estimated cost is $9,000 per unit. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the request and directed the Clerk to advertise for bids <br />with sealed bids to be received on Parch 27, 1978. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE PORTIONS <br />OF ILLINOIS, KENMORE, FALCON, IOWA AND KENTUCKY STREETS <br />The Area Plan Commission reported to the Board that a public hearing <br />was held on the petition of the Bendix Corporation and Blankenbaker <br />Associates to vacate portions of Illinois, Kenmore, Falcon, Iowa <br />and Kentucky Streets, from Prast Blvd. to Ardmore Trail, for a <br />proposed commercial development. The Plan Commission recommended <br />the petition favorably to the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed <br />and the petition referred to the Department of Engineering for <br />preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF <br />MARION STREET <br />The Area Plan Commission reported to the Board that a public hearing <br />was held on the petition of Helene Hafron, et al, to vacate a portion <br />of the south side of Marion Street, approximately 16.5 feet in width <br />and 115.62 feet east of the east right -of -way line of Madison Street. <br />This irregularly shaped parcel is located at the southeast corner <br />of Marion and Madison Streets. The Plan Commission reported the <br />petition favorably to the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the report was filed and the <br />petition was referred to the Department of Engineering for <br />preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET AND ADVERTISING APPROVED /NORTH SHORE & MICHIGAN <br />The title sheet approving the plans for the Signalization of the <br />intersection of North Shore and Michigan Street was submitted to the <br />Board by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Board was asked <br />to approve advertising for bids for the project. Mr. McMahon explained <br />that the specifications are being prepared by the Department of <br />Engineering. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the title sheet approving the plans was signed and the <br />Board directed the Clerk to advertise for bids, with sealed bids to <br />be received on March 13, 1978. <br />
