V <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 16, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 1978 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry Crone was also present. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED - REQUEST FOR PARADE - KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS <br />Mr. McMahon noted that a request for a parade from the Knights of <br />Columbus was received after the regular agenda had been posted. He <br />made a motion that the item be added to the agenda. Mr. Brunner seconded <br />the motion and it carried. Mr. McMahon then read the request which <br />was for a parade on Sunday, January 22, 1978 beginning at 1:30 p.m. <br />at the Knights of Columbus Home, 815 N. Michigan Street and proceeding <br />to St. Patrick's Church in a "March for Life ". The route was set <br />forth in the request. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the request was approved, subject to coordination <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department and <br />to the filing of a Certificate of Insurance. <br />BID A14ARDED - JANITORIAL SERVICES FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />The Board received a report from Joseph Gawrysiak, Director, Division <br />of Transportation, that the bids for Janitorial Services for the Municipal <br />Services Facility for 1978 had'.been reviewed and he recommended the <br />bid of ServiceMaster Building Services, Inc. of $22,704.00 be accepted. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion to accept the recommendation and award the <br />bid for Janitorial Services to ServiceMaster Building Services, Inc. <br />at a total bid price of $22,704.00. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion <br />and it carried. <br />ASSESSMENT ROLL FILED - VACATION RESOLUTION ITO. 3452, 1977 <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Civil City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll for <br />Vacation Resolution No. 3452, 1977 for the vacation of the first north - <br />south alley east of Frances Street from the south right -of -way line of <br />East LaSalle Avenue south to the vacated east -west alley. This alley <br />lies between Lots 3 and 7 in Halls Subdivision of Lot 15 in Cottrelf's <br />lst Addition in South Bend. The following lots may be injuriously or <br />beneficially affected by such vacation: Lots 3 and 7. The Board finds <br />that each of said lots have been damaged in the amount of $0.00 and <br />benefited in the amount of $0.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Assessment Poll was filed and <br />set for public hearing on February 13, 1978 at 9:30 a.m. <br />REDUCED RATE AT COLFAX PARKING GARAGE APPROVED - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY <br />Joseph Paszli, Manager of the Municipal Parking Garages, was present <br />and requested that the Board approve a reduced rate at the Colfax <br />Parking Garage on Friday evening and Saturday in conjunction with <br />performances at the Morris Civic Auditorium. A rate of 50(,% was suggested <br />to encourage patrons of the Auditorium and the Garage. The normal <br />rate for three hours would be 65G. The Board discussed a means whereby <br />the garage attendant would know auditorium patrons and it was decided <br />that patrons should show their auditorium ticket stub or the notice <br />of reduced rate they received when they purchased their tickets <br />to the garage attendant when they pay for parking. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved <br />a reduced rate of 50� on Friday evening and Saturday in the Colfax <br />Parking Garage for patrons of performances at the Morris Civic Auditorium. <br />
