REGULAR MEETING MAY 5, 1980 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works s was convened at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, May 5, 1980, by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard L Hill and 11r Joseph, E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. he -Mahon and carried, the minutes of the April 28, 1980, meeting of the Board were approved as submitted. AGENDA ITEMS ADDED Mr. McMahon made a motion to add to the agenda the request for the Memorial Day Parade on May 26, 1980, by the West Side Memorial Committee, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, a request for permission to advertise for bids for street scarification was also added. PARADE REQUEST WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE A request was received from the West Side Memorial Committee for permission to hold a parade on Memorial Day, May 26, 1980 It was indicated that this was the traditional parade sponsored every year by the Memorial Committee. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Dep'ar'tment, Traffic Division, for review and recommendation. OPENING OF SEALED BIDS SALE OF 1212 SOUTH FRANKLIN This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for the sale of city -owned property located at 1212 South Franklin Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. McMahon explained that two parties had expressed an interest in purchasing the property; therefore, the city was required to advertise for sale and receive bids for the property. He noted that no bids had been received, and upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to contact the interested parties and advise them to submit their offers to purchase to the Board at the next meeting. FILE CORRESPONDENCE FROM MICHIANA WATERSHED RE:- EAST -RACE DEVELOPMENT AND 10TH ANNUAL RIVER RUN The Michiana Watershed submitted to the Board its resolution support- ing the plan of an easement of land for a safe bike -hike pathway between the St. Joseph River and the East Bank Emporium which is a development of property just north of the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge on the river's east side. The resolution also supported the donation of that land by the property owners to the City of South Bend with with maintenance to be provided by the Park Department. . Correspondence was also received concerning the 10th Annual St. Joseph River Run which will be held this year on Saturday, May 10, 1980, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Veteran's Memorial.Park and at 11:30 a.m. at Leeper Park. The communication was filed.
