REGULAR MEETING MAY 5, 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works s was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, May 5, 1980, by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard L Hill and 11r Joseph, E. Kernan present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. he -Mahon and <br />carried, the minutes of the April 28, 1980, meeting of the Board <br />were approved as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion to add to the agenda the request for the <br />Memorial Day Parade on May 26, 1980, by the West Side Memorial <br />Committee, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />a request for permission to advertise for bids for street scarification <br />was also added. <br />PARADE REQUEST WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE <br />A request was received from the West Side Memorial Committee for <br />permission to hold a parade on Memorial Day, May 26, 1980 It was <br />indicated that this was the traditional parade sponsored every year <br />by the Memorial Committee. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Dep'ar'tment, Traffic <br />Division, for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF SEALED BIDS SALE OF 1212 SOUTH FRANKLIN <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for the <br />sale of city -owned property located at 1212 South Franklin Street. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Mr. McMahon explained that two parties had expressed an interest in <br />purchasing the property; therefore, the city was required to advertise <br />for sale and receive bids for the property. He noted that no bids <br />had been received, and upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to contact the <br />interested parties and advise them to submit their offers to purchase <br />to the Board at the next meeting. <br />FILE CORRESPONDENCE FROM MICHIANA WATERSHED RE:- EAST -RACE <br />DEVELOPMENT AND 10TH ANNUAL RIVER RUN <br />The Michiana Watershed submitted to the Board its resolution support- <br />ing the plan of an easement of land for a safe bike -hike pathway <br />between the St. Joseph River and the East Bank Emporium which is a <br />development of property just north of the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge <br />on the river's east side. The resolution also supported the donation <br />of that land by the property owners to the City of South Bend with <br />with maintenance to be provided by the Park Department. . <br />Correspondence was also received concerning the 10th Annual St. Joseph <br />River Run which will be held this year on Saturday, May 10, 1980, <br />starting at 10:00 a.m. at Veteran's Memorial.Park and at 11:30 a.m. <br />at Leeper Park. The communication was filed. <br />
