Ut <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 21, 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:40 a.m., on Monday, April 21, 1980, by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph <br />E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also <br />present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. McMahon and <br />carried, the minutes of the April 14, 1980, meeting of the Board <br />were approved as submitted. <br />AWARD BID - POLICE DEPARTMENT RADIO EQUIPMENT <br />Police Chief Michael C. Borkowski and Services Division Chief <br />Spandward Mitchem recommended the award of the police radio bid <br />to General Electric Company after a review of same with Glenn <br />Zubler, Director of the Bureau of Communications. The General <br />Electric radio, Model PE65KDWDMX was found to be compatible with <br />existing equipment. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the bid was awarded to General Electric <br />Company for 27 GE radios, complete with rechargeable batteries and <br />standard single unit desk chargers at a cost of $25,677.00. The <br />bid was awarded subject to funding by a LEAA grant and city matching <br />funds. <br />HEARING - TAXI LICENSE DENIAL <br />Upon the request of Mr. Lloyd McCullough, Jr., Mr. McMahon made a <br />motion to re- schedule the hearing at a future date to allow Mr. <br />McCullough additional time to supply letters of recommendation. <br />The motion was seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. <br />APPROVAL OF HOUSE MOVE - 721 S. OLIVE TO 1614 KNOBLOCK <br />Mr. McMahon explained that approval was needed for the house move <br />of Michiana House Movers to move a house from 721 S. Olive to <br />1614 Knoblock. Previously, approval had been granted and rescinded.. <br />Adjacent property owners had been notified at that time, a public <br />hearing had been held on December 17, 1979, and the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and Building Department had recommended <br />approval, subject to the following: <br />1. The route for the move shall be from South Olive <br />to Knoblock following the route of Olive Street, <br />Bendix Drive, Westmoor, Sheridan, Lincolnway West <br />(U.S. 20) and Knoblock. <br />2. The Board of Public Works, Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department must be notified <br />48 hours in advance of the date of the move. <br />3. The necessary permits must be secured from the <br />Building Department, and the Certificate of <br />Insurance submitted should contain the required <br />workman's compensation statutory limits of $100,000. <br />4.
