,�i REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14, 1980 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, April 14, 1980, by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard E. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone. 14INUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the minutes of the April 7, 1980, meeting of the Board were approved as submitted. OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT RADIO EQUIPMENT This was the date set for receiving bids for Police Department radio equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and publicly read: General Electric Company 1800 North Meridian Street Suite 411 Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 27 General Electric 4 -watt UHF 8- Channel FM Radios, complete batteries and standard single ($951.00 each) Bid was signed by R. E. Boaz, non - collusion affidavit was in order, and a 10% bid bond was submitted. MASTR Personal with rechargeable unit desk chargers - $25,677.00 Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid was referred to the Chief of Police and the Radio Communica- tions Bureau for review and recommendation. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3488, 1980 (PORTION OF GARST STREET) This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 3488, 1980, for the vacation of Garst Street from Prairie Avenue west to the easterly north -south boundary line of the intersecting north -south alley between Garst Street and Kerr Street. Mr. McMahon stated that the petitioner and adjacent property owners have requested that the matter be tabled in order to allow them time to work out certain access problems in conjunction with the street vacation. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the public hearing was tabled until further notice by the petitioner or until May 19, 1980, whichever codes first. EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TZADE TO SPRING CLEAN -UP PROGRAM Mr. Kernan stated.that the Board wished to publicly thank the follow- ing persons who were.involved in-helping the city obtain publicity for the Spring Clean -Up Program through public service announcements on radio, television and newspaper: Jolin Thurn and Frances Jones - llarkmakers Vince Ford - WRBR Radio Steve Horvath and Paul Walton - WNDU Joy Welsh and Alan Perry - United Mimeworkers Jim McLaughlin - S.
