,�i <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 14, 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, April 14, 1980, by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard E. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. <br />Kernan present. Also present was Deputy City Attorney Terry A. <br />Crone. <br />14INUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the minutes of the April 7, 1980, meeting of the Board were approved <br />as submitted. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT RADIO EQUIPMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Police Department radio <br />equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to <br />be sufficient. The following bid was opened and publicly read: <br />General Electric Company <br />1800 North Meridian Street <br />Suite 411 <br />Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 <br />27 General Electric 4 -watt UHF <br />8- Channel FM Radios, complete <br />batteries and standard single <br />($951.00 each) <br />Bid was signed by R. E. Boaz, <br />non - collusion affidavit was <br />in order, and a 10% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />MASTR Personal <br />with rechargeable <br />unit desk chargers - $25,677.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the bid was referred to the Chief of Police and the Radio Communica- <br />tions Bureau for review and recommendation. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3488, 1980 (PORTION OF GARST STREET) <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3488, 1980, for the vacation of Garst Street from <br />Prairie Avenue west to the easterly north -south boundary line of <br />the intersecting north -south alley between Garst Street and Kerr <br />Street. Mr. McMahon stated that the petitioner and adjacent property <br />owners have requested that the matter be tabled in order to allow <br />them time to work out certain access problems in conjunction with <br />the street vacation. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the public hearing was tabled until <br />further notice by the petitioner or until May 19, 1980, whichever <br />codes first. <br />EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TZADE TO <br />SPRING CLEAN -UP PROGRAM <br />Mr. Kernan stated.that the Board wished to publicly thank the follow- <br />ing persons who were.involved in-helping the city obtain publicity <br />for the Spring Clean -Up Program through public service announcements <br />on radio, television and newspaper: <br />Jolin Thurn and Frances Jones - llarkmakers <br />Vince Ford - WRBR Radio <br />Steve Horvath and Paul Walton - WNDU <br />Joy Welsh and Alan Perry - United Mimeworkers <br />Jim McLaughlin - S. B. Tribune <br />Centurion Fire U Safety for first aid kits <br />1 <br />
