ME REGULAR MEETING REQUEST FOR HOUSE MOVE (MITSCHELEN) APRIL 7. 1980 The Board received a request for a house move from North Main Street to Moss Road from Allen Mitschelen, d /b /a Michiana House Moving. Recommendations from the Building Commissioner and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting were also submitted. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the following, in concurrence with the Building Department: 1. The early portion of the move shall not use Main Street within the CBD. The early part of the move shall not use Washington Street within the CBD. As on all previous moves from this general locality, the mover shall route his house move to Lafayette Street, and in this case, via Marion Street. The move shall then route south on Lafayette Street to LaSalle, west on LaSalle to Williams, south on Williams to Washington and then proceed in a westerly manner. There is a 250' section on LaSalle Street that will require an Indiana State Highway permit. This permit must be obtained and a copy submitted to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting prior to issuance of the permit. 2. The route towards the latter part appears to use Woodbine Way. There is no reason to utilize a residential street when Sheridan and Elwood could be utilized. 3. The end location of the house is on Moss Road, one block south of Ardmore Trail. The mover, however, does not utilize Prast (Ardmore Trail) immediately at Sheridan. A route should be given consideration which proceeds west on Westmore to Sheridan, north on Sheridan to Prast /Ardmore Trail, west on Prast/ Ardmore Trail to Moss Road and south on Moss Road to its final destination. This would eliminate approximately 1 mile of unnecessary travel thru residential, school and business areas. 4. Since the building is only 28' wide, the apparent obvious and shortest route appears to be U. S. 20. It is requested that the contractor consider this route. 5. The contractor upon the move will negotiate numerous signalized intersections. A signed letter of agreement on company stationary will be necessary from a pre qualified signal contractor. The letter attached from Morse Electric indicates they have been contacted but do not have a contract with the contractor. 6. The contractor will be responsible for posting all streets with no parking signs at the direction of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. The use of any cardboard or temporary signage will be supplied by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and will be replaced by the contractor from the source utilized by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. The contractor will be responsible for all damage and losses to any traffic signage incurred on his route.
