Emerging Technologies Center I Indiana University I Indianapolis, IN
Size
63,000 SF (new)
Construction Cost
$4.7 million
Completion Date
August 2003
Synergy is the act of combining forces to
create a stronger entity than the sum of
its parts. That's the philosophy behind the
Emerging Technologies Center, a highly
successful business incubator focused on
developing new life sciences companies.
Located downtown overlooking the
Canal Development, ETC offers access
to affordable well - equipped office
space, business advisors, management
expertise, and venture capital. The
facility symbolizes the beginning of a
life sciences corridor that contributes
to Indianapolis' booming life sciences
industry. It provides direct connections
to the research capabilities of the Indiana
University School of Medicine as well as
human and technical resources required
by newly formed companies.
The fast -track project renovated a
warehouse into laboratory space in six
months. In addition, a second level and
systems infrastructure for research and
production needs were added.
A low lease cost per square foot makes
the incubator appealing to startup
businesses. In its first year, the 85
percent occupancy exceeds the owner's
initial goal of 50 percent.
