Originally the bids had come in above the budget for the
project and the bids had been rejected with the intention of re-
bidding that item with the bid opening set for this date. The Clerk
tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune
and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The
following bids were opened and publicly read:
Ritschard Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by Carmelo Ritschard
1204 West Sample and Donald Ritschard, non - collusion
South Bend, Indiana affidavit was in order and a 5% bid
bond was submitted.
Demolition and Backfill Work - Bid Package #122 $46,900.00
O'Neal Trucking Co., Inc. Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, Jr.,
1737 N. The
total project budget was $24,500.00. Mr. McMahon asked why there
were no bids submitted for the metal fabrication work, and Mr. Jahn
stated that he did not understand why in view of the fact that four
contractors picked up the bid package. He indicated that the project
budget for the metal fabrications was $20,200.00. Upon a motion made
by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bids were
referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation.
Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried,
the bid package for metal fabrications will be re- advertised with the
bid opening set for March 17, 1980, at 9:30 a.m. Mr. McMahon asked
that Mr. Jahn meet with the contractors concerning this project in the
hopes of receiving favorable bids on March 17th.
PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3485,
1979.
