Vance submitted to the Board the
following recommendation:
"The Board of Public Works accepted the low bid of
Midwest Fire and Safety Equipment Company, Inc. for
a Snorkel, conditioned upon approval of the funding
for the purchase. Funding through a lease /purchase
agreement was pursued in the 1980 budget but the
request was eliminated from the Fire Department budget
as approved by the Common Council.
In view of the City's tight financial position and the
action of the Common Council in reducing the Fire
Department 1980 budget, I am recommending that the
Board rescind its' conditional award and reject the
bid.
Michael L. Vance
Chief Deputy Controller it
Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr, McMahon and
carried, the recommendation was approved and the Board rejected
the bid.
COMPLAINT - INDEPENDENT CAB COMPANY
The Courtesy Cab Company submitted a letter to the Board alleging
that Grady Thompson, Independent Cab Company, now has two cabs
operating and one of the vehicles does not have lettering, top
lights, a meter and proper license as required by the ordinance.
The letter requested that the matter be investigated. Upon motion
made by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was filed and
referred to the Controller's Office for investigation.
