232 REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 22, 1979 REQUEST FOR SHRINE CLUB CANOPY FILED The Board received a request from City Awning Company, on behalf of the South Bend Shrine Club, to erect a canopy at 126 W..Marion Street. A drawing of the proposed installation was attached. James Markle, Building Commissioner, reported he had reviewed the request and had no objection to the canopy provided it was installed in compliance with all Building and Fire Code requirements. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Mullen and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted to the Board the following recommendations for traffic control: A. No Parking west side of 700 N. Main Street, an extension of the yellow zone at the pedestrian crossing, to include new entrance to doctor's parking lot. B. Remove two -way stop on Humboldt at Johnson and install four -way stop at Humboldt and Johnson, a temporary installation preparatory to stop sign reversal. Anticipated length of temporary installation, six months. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendations were approved. REPORT - YELLOW CURB AT 1109 ECLIPSE PLACE Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted the following report to the Board on a yellow curb installation at 1109 Eclipse Place: "As requested by the Board, this Bureau has researched our street file records and find no orders or correspondence regarding the yellow curb at 1109 Eclipse Place. It is my understanding that the Board researched its files for the years 1963 and 1964, which are immediately during and after the construction of the St.Joseph Bank Building and find no recommendations from Mr.. Hazinski for yellow curbs at 1109 Eclipse Place. I, personally, have no recollection of any verbal agreements between Mr. Przygoda and Mr.Hazinski reference the yellow curb at 1109 Eclipse Place - bearing in mind that I may not have been privy to said agreements, if in fact there were any. Further, since the appearance of Mr. Kovas's story in the South Bend Tribune reference the above situation, I received a call from a neighborhood resident who indicated the curb has been painted both white and /or orange with the caption "No Parking" stencilled in black on top of the curb for many, many years. (This method is not used by this Bureau). s/ Ralph J. Wadzinski it Mr. McMahon noted that he had talked to Mr. Przygoda about this matter and had advised him that the action of the Board would stand. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the report was ordered filed.
