154 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 6, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the July 31 meeting had been <br />reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as <br />submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and.it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon advised the Board that a request for a Handicapped <br />Parking Permit, a Block Party request and an offer to purchase <br />city -owned property were received after the posting of the meeting <br />agenda and he made a motion that they be added at this time. Mr. <br />Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE RADIOS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Police Radio Equipment. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Motorola, Inc. submitted a letter stating they were not submitting <br />a bid. <br />General Electric Bid was signed by Andrew Campos, <br />205 W. Touhy non- collusion affidavit was <br />Park Ridge, Illinois 60068 in order and a 10% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid - 10 Portable Radios GE PE65KDWDMX 918.50 <br />10 Spare 700 mah nicad battery_ 31.50 <br />10 G E 361L1A1X charger 31.40 <br />981.50 $9,815.00 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the bid was referred to the Communications.Department <br />and the Police Department for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DE -ICING CHEMICALS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for de -icing chemicals <br />for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />ROCK SALT <br />Morton Salt Company advised that they were not submitting a bid. <br />Diamond Crystal Salt Company advised that they were not submitting <br />a bid. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the Board authorized readvertising for bids for rock salt. <br />
