118 <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 9, 1979 <br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU AND PROBATE COURT <br />John Cimino, Director of the Criminal Justice Planning Bureau, <br />submitted to the Board an Agreement between the St. Joseph <br />County Probate Court and the Youth Services Bureau. The agreement <br />is in connection with a federal grant from the Law Enforcement <br />Assistance Agency in the amount of $32,676.00, with matching <br />funds of $5,000 from St. Joseph County and will provide for a <br />Runaway Shelter to house status offendors. Recent changes in <br />the Juvenile Code necessitate the housing of status offendors <br />in non- secure facilities. Upon motion made by Mr, Mullen, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the agreement was approved. <br />PROPOSAL ACCEPTED COMPLETION OF REHABILITATION, NE NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER <br />James Harcus, Director of the Bureau of Housing, submitted to the <br />Board two proposals received for the completion of the rehabilitation <br />of the Northeast Neighborhood Center, 803 N. Notre Dame Avenue. <br />One proposal is from Charles Brown Maintenance Company for <br />wall and ceiling repairs in the amount of $937.00 and the second <br />proposal is from R. A. Stickler Plumbing in the amount of $60.00 <br />for removal and cap -off of water lines to a basement shower. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the proposals were accepted by the Board. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3475 RESCINDED <br />This was the date set for receiving the votes of affected property <br />owners regarding the proposed Hawbaker Sanitary Sewer Project. <br />There were nine property owners listed on the Assessment Roll <br />and six voted against the project. Thus, more than fifty -one <br />per cent of the affected property owners are opposed to the sewer <br />construction. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board rescinded Improvement Resolution <br />No. 3475 and the improvement will not be made. <br />REQUEST REPAIR AT INTERSECTION AT SHERIDAN AND SAMPLE <br />The Board received a request from Councilman Kopczynski that <br />action be taken.regarding a problem arising from a pavement rise <br />at the location of a manhole at the intersection of Sheridan <br />and Sample Street. Mr. Kopczynski said the condition causes a <br />hazard for motorists. Upon motion made by Mr, Mullen, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the <br />Division of Engineering and the Director of Utilities for review <br />and recommendation. <br />LETTER FROM PARK AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION FILED <br />The Park Avenue Neighborhood Association submitted a letter <br />thanking the Board for action taken to close streets in the <br />neighborhood in connection with the recent Tour of Homes. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the letter was ordered filed, <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE GRACE STREET - AUGUST 17, 18 AND 19 <br />Rev. Eugene Kazmierczak, Pastor of St. Adalbert's Church, requested <br />that the Board approve the closing of Grace 'Street on August 17, <br />18 and 19 in connection with a parish festival. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, the request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Bureau for review and recommendation. <br />
