Mr. Brunner pointed out the <br />development of Island Park and Bicentennial Park along the riverfront <br />which have been developed and are being,used. This land was <br />not available to the citizens and has now been developed into <br />a beautiful park area. Councilman Walter Szymkowiak commended <br />the Gates Chevrolet Company and Mr, Gates for their efforts to <br />improve the area around their business by acquiring land and <br />removing substandard buildings. He said they are interested in <br />the downtown and he would like the Board-of Works'- .-and.._the- _Pa:rk_ <br />Board to consider this offer. Upon motion made.by Mr Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the offer was referred to the <br />Board of Park Commissioners for review and recommendation. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - MEADOW,: LANE <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the <br />Maurice Matthys Little League to hold a Block Party on Meadow Lane, <br />between Lombardy and Evergreen, on Saturday, July 21 from <br />3:00 p.m. to Midnight. The Police Department Traffic Bureau <br />concurs that approval can be given and Mr. Wadzinski recommended <br />approval. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the block party was approved, <br />STREET LIGHT RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVED <br />Joseph J. Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended approval of the following street light <br />recommendations: <br />Remove: 600 S. Michigan (7 lights) 43,000L FL UG SP $107.59/mo. <br />600 S. Main (3 Lights) 20,000L FL UG SP 36.33/mo. <br />Install: 600 S. Michigan (7 lights) 50,000L HPS UG SP $106,75/mo. <br />600 S. Main (3 lights) 50,000L HPS UG SP 45.75/mo. <br />Total Increase 152.20/mo. <br />Upon motion made by Mr, Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the recommendations were approved. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - MATTHEWS LANE <br />The Board received a request from Veronica Mueller to hold a <br />Block Party on Matthews Lane on Wednesday, July 4 from 3:30 p.m. <br />to 8:30 p.m. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the <br />request and recommended approval. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the block party was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF TITLE SHEET - IRELAND ROAD WIDENING <br />John E. Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />submitted to the Board the title sheet approving the plans for <br />the widening of Ireland Road, from Fellows Street to Michigan <br />Street. The Board is presently advertising for bids for the <br />project. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the title sheet approving the plans was approved. <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK ?ARTY ON WALL STREET RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from Pamela DeCola to hold a Block <br />Party in the 1300 -1400 blocks of Wall Street on Saturday, July <br />14 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. Upon motion made by Per. Mullen,. <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for <br />review and recommendation. <br />
