REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 18, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at. 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present and Mr. <br />Mullen absent. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also <br />present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the June 18 meeting of <br />the Board had been reviewed and he made a motion that the <br />minutes be approved as submitted. Mr, McMahon seconded the <br />motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CARPET AND FLOOR TILE FOR DISCOVERY HALL <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for carpet and floor tile <br />for Discovery Hall Museum. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Powell and Associates Bid was signed by Ronald J. <br />South _Bend, Indiana Powell, non - collusion <br />affidavit was in order and <br />a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Part B - Floor Tile - $24,137.00 <br />Interior Finishes, Inc. Bid was signed by Alfred <br />Osceola, Indiana R. Vicsik, non - collusion <br />affidavit was in order and a <br />5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Part A, Carpeting <br />and Part B, Floor Tile - $43,115.00 <br />Ries Furniture Company Bid was signed by Joseph <br />South Bend, Indiana Fischoff and Milton Ries, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid Part A, Carpeting - $10,346.50 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and <br />carried, the bids were referred to Richard Welch, Director of <br />Discovery Hall Museum, for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - INTEREST RATE FOR LEASE /PURCHASE OF SNORKEL <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the interest rate <br />for the lease /purchase of a snorkel for the Fire Department. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Nat -Lea, Inc. Bid was signed by E. B. Wynn, <br />South Bend, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a certified check was <br />submitted. <br />Bid -Ten per cent (10 %) - nine semi- annual payments of $24,497.68 <br />and one payment of $25,000.00, with a $1.00 purchase option. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the bid was referred to the Controller's Office for <br />review and recommendation. <br />
