W <br />• <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 1979 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY . <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the sale of <br />residual portions of lots acquired for construction of the <br />Michigan /Main Connector. The Clerk tendered proofs of publi- <br />cation of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. There were no bids <br />received. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board authorized re- advertising for <br />bids for the property. <br />SUBGRANT MODIFICATION APPROVED - CETA AND HANSEL CENTER <br />Elroy Kelzenberg, Director of the Bureau of Employment and <br />Training, submitted to the Board a modification in the Subgrant <br />Agreement between the Bureau and Hansel Neighborhood Center. <br />The modification increases the budget to full allocation of <br />funds of $23,363 for a. comprehensive employment and training <br />subprogram: Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the modification was approved. <br />SUBGRANT MODIFICATION APPROVED — CETA AND URBAN LEAGUE <br />Elroy Kelzenberg, Director of the Bureau of Employment and <br />Training, submitted to the Board a modification in the Subgrant <br />Agreement between the Bureau and the Urban League. The modifica- <br />tion increases the budget to full allocation of $22,920 for a <br />comprehensive employment and training subprogram, Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />modification was approved. <br />SUBGRANT AGREEMENT APPROVED - CETA AND IUSB CONTINUING EDUCATION <br />Elroy Kelzenberg, Director of the Bureau of Employment and <br />Training, submitted to the Board a Subgrant Agreement between <br />CETA and Indiana University at South Bend, Division of Continuing <br />Education. The Subgrant is to assist CETA participants-in <br />securing and maintenance of jobs and learning to manage personal <br />finances and organize life goals. The subgrant agreement is in <br />the amount of $21,043.00 and extends from June 1 to September <br />30, 1979. Mr, McMahon made a motion to approve the Subgrant. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried, <br />SUBGRANT AGREEMENT APPROVED - CETA AND IUSB SPEA <br />Elroy Kelzenberg, Director of the Bureau of Employment and <br />Training, submitted to the Board a Subgrant Agreement between <br />CETA and Indiana University at South Bend, School of Public <br />and Environmental Affairs, The Subgrant is to provide services <br />for participants who are within three months of termination of <br />subsidized employment and those just entering subsidized employment. <br />The subgrant agreement is in the amount of $8,784.00 and extends <br />from June 1 to September 30, 1979. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, the subgrant was <br />approved. <br />TAXI LICENSE DENIED - RONALD H. JOHNSON <br />Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, submitted to the Board the <br />taxi license application of Ronald H. Johnson and the recommendation <br />of the Police Department that the license be denied. The applicant <br />misrepresented the fact that he had his license suspended, had <br />been arrested for fictitious registration, operating an unsafe <br />vehicle, no operator's license and the possession of marijuana. <br />The fact that he falsified the application is justification for <br />the denial and Mr. Mullen concurred in the recommendation. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried <br />the recommendation was filed and the Clerk was directed to notify <br />the applicant of his right to a hearing before the Board. <br />1 <br />
