REGULAR MEETING MAY 29, 1979 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m, on Tuesday, May 29, 1979 by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr, Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF MAY 21 MEETING APPROVED Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the May 21 meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. OPENING OF BIDS - DEMOLITION AND /OR REMOVAL OF 428 N. MAIN This was the date set for receiving bids for the demolition and /or removal of a structure at 428 N. Main Street, The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: 100 Center Development Company Mishawaka, Indiana The Board received a letter bid from the One Hundred Center Development Company, signed by T. Brooks Brademas, in the amount of $1.00 for the acquisition of the structure located at 428 N. Main Street for the purpose of removing the structure to a location in the West Washington Street Historic Restoration Area. Mr. Brademas_ noted that arrangments have been made with a house mover capable of 'moving the structure and the necessary permits will be secured. He also noted that he had submitted to the Housing Bureau of the City evidence of his ability to restore the structure to the satisfaction of Southhold Restorations, Inc. The letter indicated that removal of the structure would be accomplished no later than June 15, 1979 unless a reasonable extension of time can be secured from the contractor. Mr. Brademas was present and was asked if he felt the house could be removed by June 15. Mr. Brademas said he has spoken to Rieth Riley about the matter and they have indicated they could give him an additional week if necessary. He has contacted Lykowski House Movers regarding the move. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Mullen and carried, the Board accepted the bid of 100 Center Development Company of $1.00 for the acquisition and removal of the structure at 428 N. Main Street, subject to securing the necessary permits and filing of an insurance certificate. OPENING OF.BIDS - INSTALLATION OF FENCE AT CITY CEMETERY This was the date set for receiving bids for the installation of a fence at City Cemetery. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Morse Electric Company South Bend, Indiana Bid - $21,600.00 Alternate A - Add $1,400.00 Alternate B - Add $2,800.00 Alternate C - Add $2,000.00 Alternate D - Add $8,800,00 63 Bid was signed by Edward H. Morse, non - collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond was submitted.
