36 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 30, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the April 23 meeting had <br />been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that a Subgrant Agreement between the Bureau <br />of Employment and Training and the Urban League was submitted to <br />the Board after the posting of the meeting agenda. He made a <br />motion that the agreement be added to the agenda. Mr. Mullen <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - IRONWOOD AND PLEASANT IMPROVEMENTS- R & S 7904 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Ironwood and <br />Pleasant Improvements. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Rieth Riley Construction Co. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Base Bid - $89,450.25 <br />With Alternate No. 1 - $106,563.50 <br />Arco Engineering Construction Co. <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Base Bid - $100,999.99 <br />With Alternate No. 1 - $106,563.30 <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Base Bid $93,878.35 <br />With Alternate No. 1 - $111,786.55 <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />Ruhlman, non - collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by William Reiff, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Thomas 0. Walsh, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a.5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Public Construction <br />for review and recommendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3470 <br />PROCEEDINGS CLOSED <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3470 for the vacation of <br />the east -west alley between Lots 48 and 49 running east from <br />Lafayette Street between Sample Street and Garst Street continuing <br />on between Lots 30 and 31 east to Main Street.
