Installation of Stop Signs at ten locations at the request <br />of the Insurance Institute and the Mayor's Traffic Safety <br />Commission. The following locations are all uncontrolled <br />tee intersections of minor residential streets with an <br />arterial: O'Brien at Washington, Huey at Washington, Sadie <br />at Washington, Carlisle at Washington, Monroe at Kaley, Grace <br />at Kaley, Poland at Kaley, Pulaski at Sample, Jackson at <br />Sample and Brookfield at Sample. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the installations <br />were approved. <br />E. Installation of No Parking Signs on the North side of George <br />Avenue, from Marietta east to George and the West side of <br />George Avenue, running east and west, approximately 200 feet, <br />at the request of the South Bend Fire Department because the <br />streets are so narrow that emergency vehicles are unable to <br />get through when parking is permitted, Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved, <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - ORANGE STREET <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported that he had reviewed the request of Andrew Brown to <br />block Orange Street, between Jackson and College, on Saturday, <br />April 28 from 3:00 p.m, to 10:00 p.m. with the Police Department <br />Traffic Detail and they have no objections. He noted that the <br />request also included erection of a tent on private property during <br />the block party. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the block party, subject <br />to securing the necessary tent permit from the Building Department. <br />MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported that the request of the Maurice Matthys Little League to <br />hold a parade on May 19 had been reviewed with Captain Sweitzer <br />of the Police Department Traffic Detail. The route is acceptable <br />and they recommend approval, requesting that the participants <br />contact Captain Sweitzer this week regarding the availability of <br />a police escort. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Mullen and carried, the parade was approved, subject to the filing <br />of the required Certificate of Insurance. <br />MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY BED RACE APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported that the request of the Muscular Dystrophy Association <br />to hold a Bed Race on Saturday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m, to 1:00 p.m. <br />on Jefferson Street, between Main and St. Joseph, had been reviewed <br />with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Department Traffic Detail <br />and approval is recommended. It was noted that the requested rain <br />date of June 9 could not be honored as that is the date approved <br />for the American Lung Association Bi -Run. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Bed Race was <br />approved, subject to the filing of the required Certificate of <br />Insurance. <br />
