The following locations are all uncontrolled tee intersections of minor residential streets with an arterial: O'Brien at Washington, Huey at Washington, Sadie at Washington, Carlisle at Washington, Monroe at Kaley, Grace at Kaley, Poland at Kaley, Pulaski at Sample, Jackson at Sample and Brookfield at Sample. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the installations were approved. E. Installation of No Parking Signs on the North side of George Avenue, from Marietta east to George and the West side of George Avenue, running east and west, approximately 200 feet, at the request of the South Bend Fire Department because the streets are so narrow that emergency vehicles are unable to get through when parking is permitted, Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation was approved, BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - ORANGE STREET Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported that he had reviewed the request of Andrew Brown to block Orange Street, between Jackson and College, on Saturday, April 28 from 3:00 p.m, to 10:00 p.m. with the Police Department Traffic Detail and they have no objections. He noted that the request also included erection of a tent on private property during the block party. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the block party, subject to securing the necessary tent permit from the Building Department. MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE APPROVED Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported that the request of the Maurice Matthys Little League to hold a parade on May 19 had been reviewed with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Department Traffic Detail. The route is acceptable and they recommend approval, requesting that the participants contact Captain Sweitzer this week regarding the availability of a police escort. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the parade was approved, subject to the filing of the required Certificate of Insurance. MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY BED RACE APPROVED Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported that the request of the Muscular Dystrophy Association to hold a Bed Race on Saturday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m, to 1:00 p.m. on Jefferson Street, between Main and St. Joseph, had been reviewed with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Department Traffic Detail and approval is recommended. It was noted that the requested rain date of June 9 could not be honored as that is the date approved for the American Lung Association Bi -Run. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Bed Race was approved, subject to the filing of the required Certificate of Insurance.
