29 <br />REGULAR 14EETING <br />APRIL 23, 1979 <br />SECTION 1. The Board of Public Works does hereby authorize and <br />direct the conveyance by Quit -Claim Deed to the Department of <br />Redevelopment of the City of South Bend of real estate and <br />improvements thereon located in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph <br />County, State of Indiana, commonly known as the Odd Fellows <br />Building, and more particularly described as: <br />A Part of Lots Numbered Thirty -five (35) and Thirty -six <br />(36) as shown on the Original Plat of the Town, now <br />City, of South Bend, described as follows, viz: <br />Beginning at the Northwest corner of said Lot Numbered <br />Thirty -six (36), a distance of 66 feet 10 inches; thence <br />South a distance of 132 feet to the South line of Said <br />lot Numbered Thirty -five (35); thence West along the <br />said South line of Lot Numbered Thirty -five (35), a <br />distance of 66 feet 10 inches to the Southwest corner <br />of said Lot Numbered Thirty -five (35); thence North <br />along the West line of said Lots Numbered Thirty -five <br />(35) and Thirty -six (36), a distance of 132 feet to the <br />place of beginning. <br />Subject to a private alley 10 feet in width, North and <br />South, taken off of and from the entire width of the <br />South side of said tract. <br />Adopted this 23rd day of April, 1979. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Patrick M. Mullen <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Patricia DeClercq <br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENTS WITH STATE HIGHWAY FOR ORANGE /COLFAX CONNECTOR <br />Mr. McMahon submitted to the Board copies of three agreements between <br />the City and the Indiana State Highway Commission in connection <br />with the construction of the Orange /Colfax Connector. The agreements <br />provide that the state will let the contracts and obtain federal aid <br />funds for the project. The City agrees to contribute its portion <br />and acknowledges that the money has been appropriated and is <br />available. The project involves Orange Street, from Bendix to <br />Birdsell, Birdsell Street, from Orange to Colfax, and Colfax, from <br />Birdsell to LaPorte. Federal aid funds for the project are in the <br />amount of $1,342,800 and the City's share is $447,600. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />agreements were approved and will be submitted to the Highway <br />Commission for signature. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - MONROE STREET PAVEMENT AND SEWER <br />John E. Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />requested permission to advertise for bids for the pavement widening <br />and storm sewer construction on Monroe Street, between Main and <br />Lafayette. Plans and specifications have been prepared. The purpose <br />of the project is to meet existing traffic demands for safe and <br />efficient movement of vehicles as well as providing for control of <br />storm drainage. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board approved the request to advertise for bids. <br />
