W <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 9, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on 11onday, April 9, 1979 by President Patrick I.I. HcMahon, <br />with 11r. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />11INUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the April 2 meeting had been <br />reviewed and he made a motion tha t the minutes be approved as <br />submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED - USE OF STAND -BY AMBULANCE <br />Mr. McMahon reported receipt of a request from the Fire Department <br />after the posting of the meeting agenda and he made a motion that <br />the item be added. Nor. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />USE OF STAND -BY AMBULANCE APPROVED <br />Fire Chief Oscar Van Wiele advised the Board that he had been <br />contacted by the Achievement Forum regarding use of a stand -by <br />ambulance for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Storyland Zoo on <br />Easter Sunday, April 15. The request has been granted in the past <br />and Chief Van Wiele recommended approval. Upon motion made by 11r. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried the request was <br />approved. <br />BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 16 CANCELLED <br />Mr. 11cMahon noted that Monday, April 16 is a City holiday and the <br />City offices will be closed. He made a motion that the Board meeting <br />scheduled for that day be cancelled, with the next regular meeting <br />to be held on Monday, April 23, 1979. Mr. Brunner seconded the N <br />motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SPECIAL DUTY VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for special duty vehicles <br />for the Police Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. There were no bids received. Mr. <br />11cMahon noted only one bid was received when the project was first <br />advertised. That bid was not submitted on the proper forms so it <br />was rejected and the Board readvertised for bids to be received <br />today. Division Chief Glenn Terry was.asked the number of vehicles <br />the Department planned to purchase and he indicated they planned <br />to purchase two vehicles. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by i4r. Brunner and carried, the Board authorized the Police Depart- <br />ment to negotiate for the purchase of two special duty vehicles, <br />subject to approval of the funding. The Board is to be advised <br />when negotiations have been completed. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ONE CAB AND CHASSIS FOR THE BUREAU OF TRAFFIC <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for one cab and chassis <br />for the Bureau of Traffic "Afid, Ligh`ting.! The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri -. <br />County News which were found to be4 sufficient.
