W
Q
Q
15
REGULAR 14EETING
APRIL 2, 1979
As Indiana Bell is presently converting their entire
system to a "dial tone first" it is felt that this will
provide the same purpose as a call box in the City. That
is, any person who desires to ring the fire alarm can use
a pay phone and dial 911 without depositing any money into
the telephone. Indiana Bell has indicated that they hope
to have this "dial -tone first" into South Bend within the
next two years.
Please note on the attached the items that I desire to be
cancelled from our contract with Indiana Bell. Your
consideration of the request is appreciated.
Very truly yours,
s/ Peter H. Mullen
Attachment; Cancellable Items:
1TFC - Trunk
1 NLW Emergency Reporting Serv. Those businesses which presently have call boxes
have the alternative to ,o with one of the Arivate alarm companies
Mr. Mullen noted he had discussed this matter with Fire Department
officials and with Mr. Ellis of Indiana Bell and they concur in
this action, because of the limited use of the call boxes. Upon
motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the Board approved the recommendation and cancelled the contract
with Indiana Bell. The Clerk was directed to send notification
of the cancellation.
COMMUNITY GARDEN PROMRAM APPROVED
An updated form for the use of city -owned lots for gardening
purposes was submitted to the Board. The form is the same one
used in the past with current dates inserted. Upon motion made
by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board
approved the Community Garden Program for 1979.
