REGULAR MEETING MARCH 26, 1979 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 1979 by President Patrick. M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. AGENDA ITEMS ADDED Mr. McMahon noted receipt of two items, a request for a Block Party and a request for an Open Air Stand, after the posting of the meeting agenda. He made a motion that the items be added to the agenda. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED The Board received a request from Andrew Brown on behalf of the residents of North College and Orange Streets to hold a block party on Saturday, April 28, 1979 and to block Orange Street, from College to Jackson, from 8:00 a.m., to 10:00 P.M. for the Block :Party. The letter also included information regarding the setting up of a tent at 201 N. College on April 27 in connection with the Block Party. Upon motion Made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board referred the request to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for review and recommendation, with the Clerk to contact the residents for clarification regarding the date and details regarding the tent. OPEN AIR STAND APPLICATION APPROVED CONDITIONALLY - 107 W. WAYNE Tennis Corner, 107 W. The application did sale. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, carried, the application was approved the date and to securing the necessary a certificate of insurance with the Board. RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED Michele Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board the following requests: A. A Polka Band on the Plaza on Dyngus Day, April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. B. Parade and Presentation - Monte Carlo Circus on March 30 from 11:30 a.m, to 1:00 p.m. Three units will participate on a route from the Morris Civic Auditorium down Colfax to Main, Main to Jefferson and Jefferson to the Plaza. The route has been approved by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department and insurance is to be provided by the Chamber of Commerce. It was also requested that a school bus be permitted to park in the Supergraphic block. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the requests were approved and Miss Dobski will be asked to coordinate parking and traffic control with the Police Department and Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. OPENING OF BIDS - SPECIAL DUTY VEHICLES -FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT This was the date set for receiving bids for Special Duty Vehicles for the Police Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened:
