REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 26, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 1979 by President Patrick. <br />M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted receipt of two items, a request for a Block <br />Party and a request for an Open Air Stand, after the posting <br />of the meeting agenda. He made a motion that the items be added <br />to the agenda. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BLOCK PARTY REQUEST FILED <br />The Board received a request from Andrew Brown on behalf of <br />the residents of North College and Orange Streets to hold <br />a block party on Saturday, April 28, 1979 and to block Orange <br />Street, from College to Jackson, from 8:00 a.m., to 10:00 P.M. <br />for the Block :Party. The letter also included information regarding <br />the setting up of a tent at 201 N. College on April 27 in connection <br />with the Block Party. Upon motion Made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board referred the request to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for <br />review and recommendation, with the Clerk to contact the residents <br />for clarification regarding the date and details regarding the <br />tent. <br />OPEN AIR STAND APPLICATION APPROVED CONDITIONALLY - 107 W. WAYNE <br />Tennis Corner, 107 W. Wayne <br />a Sidewalk Sale in front of <br />not specify the date of the <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />subject to clarification of <br />vending license and filing <br />Street, requested permission to hold <br />their business. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />carried, the application was approved <br />the date and to securing the necessary <br />a certificate of insurance with the Board. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED <br />Michele Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the <br />Board the following requests: <br />A. A Polka Band on the Plaza on Dyngus Day, April 16, from <br />11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. <br />B. Parade and Presentation - Monte Carlo Circus on March 30 <br />from 11:30 a.m, to 1:00 p.m. Three units will participate <br />on a route from the Morris Civic Auditorium down Colfax to <br />Main, Main to Jefferson and Jefferson to the Plaza. The <br />route has been approved by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department and insurance is to be provided by <br />the Chamber of Commerce. It was also requested that a school <br />bus be permitted to park in the Supergraphic block. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the requests were approved and Miss Dobski will be <br />asked to coordinate parking and traffic control with the Police <br />Department and Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SPECIAL DUTY VEHICLES -FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Special Duty Vehicles <br />for the Police Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened: <br />
