Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the ,Electrical Department., recommends <br />that a 4000 _.lumen light be installed at Jefferson & 27th Streets; Jefferson and 28th <br />Streets; Hasting & 34th Streets; 725 South 34th Street; Club and Tuxedo Drives; <br />Dunham & Jackson Streets; and at the alley on Marion Street between Main Street and <br />Lafayette Boulevard. <br />Also, it is the recommendation of the Electrical Department Superintendent <br />that the following lights should be increased to 4000 lumen: Thomas Street & Hoose Ct. <br />Grant Street at Railroad Tracks; Brookfield Street from Railroad Tracks to Western Avenue; <br />Harris Street near Western A enue; Walnut Street near Western Avenue and Jefferson St; <br />Kociusckd Street near Western Avenue; and Chapel Lane on McPherson Street. Board now <br />approves recommendation of Electrical Department Superintendent <br />I Jim Wicks and others appeared before the Board with reference to the pro- <br />posed arterial street lighting on Miami Street from Ridgedale to Ireland Roads and sub- <br />mitted to the Board a petition which reads as follows: We, the undersigned proper- <br />ty owners along and upon Miami- Street in the City of South Bend, hereby petition your <br />honorable Board that it instruct the City Electrical Department to erect the proposed <br />street lights upon the east side of Miami Street in the territory covered between Ridge - <br />dale Road and the northerly limits of the Erskine Park Golf Course. It is our understand- <br />ing that the proposed plan at-this time calls for these electrical street lights to bee - <br />rected upon the west side of "Miami Street in the area above described. Matter taken under <br />advisement until next Monday, June 25, 1956. <br />HEALTH DEPARTMENT <br />This Board now reviewed the bids for the Health Department cars and awarded <br />the contract to the Scherman- Schaus- Freeman Company: <br />SCHERMAN- SCHAUS- FREEMAN COMPANY A non - collusion affidavit and a <br />520 South Lafayette Street certified `check in the amount of <br />South Bend, Indiana $448.00 accompanied the bid* <br />3 1956 Studebaker Champion 2 -Door Sedanets <br />Total . . . . . . . . . . $49471.40 <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 10:55 A.M.
