Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Duck, the Board next <br />approved the promotion of Fireman Claude R'. _Borowski and Joseph <br />T. Jelinski to the rank of lieutenant, retroactive to December 16, 1955• <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES: <br />Then appeared before the Board, Bert Cichowicz, Inspector of Weights <br />and Measures and brought to the attention of the Board, his departmentts <br />need for a portable dial scale,priced at $695.00. The need being apparent <br />and funds being available for such equipment, the Clerk was directed to <br />proceed with the purchase. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Chief of Police, Richard J. Gillen., was present to discuss with <br />the Board matters pertaining to his department. <br />TRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />The recommendation of Supt. Ira Hunsberger for lighting on Olive <br />Street from Western Avenue to the New York Central tracks was approved <br />by the Board. <br />The recommendation of Supt. Ira Hunsberger for the proper lighting <br />of Ewing Avenue, from Fellows Street to High Street,in.cluding also <br />improved lighting for Riley High School, was next considered and approved <br />by the Board. <br />A petition, dated November 16, 1955, for the installation of street <br />lights in the 1400, 1500, and 1600 blocks of North Iowa Street, was <br />examined and referred to Superintendent Ira Hunsberger for investigation <br />and recommendation. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />eeting was adjourned at 11 :35 A.
