<br />Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, being present, the Board immediately took
<br />p the matter of bids for.a 1000 g.p.m, pumper, opened at the regular
<br />meeting of the Board on Monday, March 28, 1955• The Board, being presented
<br />with the report.of a committee of three, appointed by the Northern Indiana
<br />Motor Carriers Association, at the request of Mayor John A. Scott, covering
<br />t eir findings and recommendation, after a thorough study of the bids and
<br />i spection of equipment of the two bidders, gave careful consideration to
<br />t is report, and accepting the committeets recommendation, awarded the
<br />contract to The Seagrave Corporation, subject to the confirmation of the
<br />C mmon Council. The Board directed that the Committee's
<br />a d the members of the committee informed of the Board's apprec be filed,
<br />t eir time and effort in the peciation of
<br />preparation of the report.
<br />The Board next examined three quotations received from automotive
<br />repair shops, in connection with damaged 1953 Ford Victoria, the property
<br />of Jerry Notteboom, 121 So. Meade Street, involved in accident with city-
<br />owned vehicle operated by city employee, Robert Laughlin. The city -owned
<br />hicle, being found to be insured; report of accident and the repair quota -
<br />'ons were ordered to be delivered to the insurers, William Happ & Son, Inc.
<br />or disposition.
<br />The Board then examined the quotation of the Modern Decorating Company
<br />for the exterior painting of Hose House No.
<br />s of $185.00. It was the consensus of opinion 4' (one coati in the total
<br />reasonable offer in view of the work involved, as specifhed npthee not a
<br />an the Board thereupon accepted the offer and directed ' the Clerk to issue
<br />formal purchase order to confirm.
<br />Fire Department applications of Emiel Fabyan, Carl J. Mitts, and Donald
<br />E. Whitacre were examined and ordered placed on file.
<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
<br />Aril 11, 1955, at 10:00 A. M.
<br />All members were present. Minutes of
<br />the
<br />previous meeting were read and
<br />approved.
