The applications of these applicants having been reviewed by <br />!Mayor John A. Scott, the Board, thereupon, approved the appointments to <br />De effective this date, subject to a probationary period of nine months. <br />Chief Gillen next presented to the Board the required form for the <br />ppointment of Edward J. Thomas, as a special police officer in and <br />or the City of South Bend. Upon the recommendation of Chief Gillen, the <br />oard, thereupon, signed and sealed this appointment. <br />The Police Department application of John C. Myer, Jr. was examined and <br />rdered placed on file. <br />The application of Ruth B. Childress for the Police Auxiliary School <br />atrol was examined and ordered filed. <br />IRE DEPARTMENT: <br />The Board deferred any action in connection with bids opened at <br />;he previous regular meeting for the supplying of an ambulette type of <br />otor vehicle for the Fire Department, until the next regular meeting. <br />The Fire Department applications of Richard V. Breckrus and <br />harles F. Goetz were examined and ordered placed on file. <br />Reports of six runs made into outlying area of German and Portage <br />'ownships during the month of March, involving Engine Companies <br />os. 11, 12, and 13, were examined and ordered filed. <br />Police Department monthly report for the month of February, was <br />xamined and ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the <br />eeting was adjourned at 11:40 A.
