X <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />Superintendent Ira Hunsberger, being present, brought to the <br />attention of the Board the rapid growth of Edison Park, and the need <br />for street lighting and a fire alarm box in this area. <br />Superintendent Hunsberger stated that Fire Box No. 738 is in tended <br />for installation at the intersection of Solomon Avenue and Flag Avenue and <br />its installation is being delayed pending installation of street light <br />at this intersection. <br />Superintendent Hunsberger's recommendation for the installation <br />of a 4000 lumen light, for the following locations, was then approved <br />by the Board: <br />Solomon Avenue and Flag Avenue <br />Rockne Drive and Flag Avenue <br />Solomon Avenue and Congress Avenue <br />Patterson Drive and Corby Boulevard <br />Whitehall Drive and Corby Boulevard <br />Brookhurst and Whitehall Drive <br />Brookhurst and Patterson Drive <br />Brighton Place and Patterson Drive <br />Brighton Place and Whitehall Drive <br />Sorin.Street and Whitehall Drive <br />Sori.n Street and Patterson Drive <br />Washington Street and Bendix Drive <br />and at 222 South Bendix Drive. <br />A 1000 lumen light, recommended by <br />on the northwest corner of Oakside and <br />by the Board. <br />A petition, dated August 20, 19539 <br />calling for improved street lighting on <br />south of Ewing Avenue, was examined and <br />for recommendation. <br />Supt. Hunsberger for installation <br />Erskine Boulevard, was approved <br />bearing four signatures and <br />Gertrude Street, 300 feet <br />referred to Supt. Hunsberger <br />Three petitions,.all dated August 17, 1953; calling for improved <br />street lighting in the 200 block Burbank Street, in the 200 block Concord <br />Street, and in the 200 block 'Walton Street, were examined and referred to <br />Supt. Hunsberger for investigation and recommendations. <br />This being the time set for the opening of bids to furnish eight <br />-door sedans for the Police Department, the chairman of the Board, so <br />'announced and proceeded as follows: <br />SCHERMAN SCHAUS FREEMAN CO. A Non - Collusion Affidavit <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. and Certified Check in the <br />amount of 0750.00 accompanied <br />the bid. <br />8. - 1953 Studebaker Champion Custom 4 -Door <br />Sedans, equipped as per specifications <br />in proposal ------------- ------- - -- - -- $12,200.80 <br />Less trade -in allowance --------- .: -.. -- 00.00 <br />72500M <br />There being no other bid received and specifications meeting <br />fully with the requirements of the Police Department, the Board <br />awarded the contract accordingly, and directed the Clerk to issue <br />formal purchase order to cover. <br />The Board then took up the matter of the contract with German <br />Township for the year of 1953, which up to the present time has not <br />been signed, and which has been called for by the Township Trustee <br />T. O. Mays, to place Before the Township - Advisory Board for signatures, <br />at a meeting of this Advisory Board, scheduled for.Tuesday evening, <br />August 25, 1953.
