Donation to the Salvation Army Kroc Center -the Midwest League gives a check to <br />each team at the end of the season for the fines paid over the course of the season by <br />the coaches and ballplayers. Each year, this check is donated back to an organization <br />in our community. In 2010, a check for $300 was donated to the Kroc Center. <br />In 2008, the South Bend Sports Commission started a program called, "Camps for <br />Champs ". In 2009, this program received a national honor as over 350 kids from our <br />local Boys and Girls Club and the Center for Homeless went to a camp that they <br />otherwise could not have attended. The South Bend Silver Hawks have donated spots <br />in our baseball camps for use by the "Camps for Champs" program. <br />How is the Cove used as a community facility? <br />1. YWCA's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes - Fundraiser for women and children <br />2. Le Casa De Amistad Fundraiser -Latin Night at the Cove with discounted tickets <br />to Le Casa and an added pre -game celebration of our Latin community and the <br />great work that Le Casa does throughout our community. <br />3. CCFA Walk -Raise funds for the Colitis Foundation <br />4. Pink at the Cove -Raise funds for Breast Cancer <br />5. Youth Baseball /Softball- Fundraiser program open to all youth baseball and <br />softball teams <br />6. Anthony de Padua Fundraiser <br />7. Teacher Appreciation Days - Discounted tickets to teachers regionally <br />8. DTSB- discounted tickets to DTSB to distribute for community partnership <br />9. School Days -9,000 students enjoyed a game at the Cove with a discounted ticket <br />per student with our 2011 goal being 15,000. <br />10. Over 12,000 students participated in the Swoop Reading program in 2010. <br />Teachers get to develop this program in coordination with our staff to fit their <br />educational needs. Each student receives 4 prizes and gets a FREE game ticket <br />once they have completed all that is required for a home run. Our 2011 goal is <br />reach over 20,000 students on a regional level. <br />11. Cancer survivors receive discounted game tickets in our celebration of their lives. <br />12. Senior Citizens are offered discounted tickets throughout the season. In 2011 we <br />have added a Senior Citizen $25 discounted ticket package which includes a ticket <br />for all of our home Tuesday games. <br />13. Fallen Hero's Night- Discounted tickets to all families of police, fire and EMT's <br />throughout our region. The entire infield was lined with emergency officers and <br />vehicles for the 2010 season as we celebrated their commitment and lives. <br />14. American Red Cross Blood Drive was held all day at the Cove <br />15. Toys for Tots drive with the National Guard. Toys are collected pre -game and <br />donated to under -served children. <br />16. Logan Night at the Cove - Discounted tickets for all children and adults with <br />disabilities for Logan Night. In 2010, prior to the Silver Hawks game .... 26 adult <br />clients of Logan Center played a 1 hour softball game mixed in with the Silver <br />Hawks team. This was an amazing experience for our professional baseball <br />players and everyone who watched or played in the game. <br />
