Seasonal and year -long employment factors.
• The South Bend Silver Hawks employ anywhere from 13 -15 full time
employees
• With stadium renovations that number will increase to 15 -20 over time.
• The South Bend Silver Hawks employ over 250 hourly or seasonal
employees for a total of 270 employees.
Why are stadium renovations needed in terms of minor league baseball and code
requirements?
1. Our stadium has not passed the minimum standard for lighting over the past few
years. Left field has never met acceptable lighting levels for professional
baseball. With the old system in place the cost to turn on the lights has put huge
strains on our budget. New lighting will increase safety in left field, hold budgets
in line and allow us to turn on the lights for non - baseball nighttime events.
2. The new artificial turf field will allow us to meet the standard of providing a
professional quality playing field for the team.
3. An indoor hitting and pitching facility is needed for the team.
4. The stadium does not have the state required number of restrooms. When the
stadium was originally built, two sets of restrooms on each end of the concourse
were never finished leaving the Cove with not enough restrooms required by law.
Renovations will allow us to come into compliance.
South Bend Silver Hawks and our commitment to community service
In 201.0, the South Bend Silver Hawks players and staff performed close to one thousand
hours of community service.
