Township was held in abeyance, inasmuch as it <br />was brought to the attention of the Board that this township has failed to fulfill <br />its 'contract for the year 1:952, payment for the last half of the year not having <br />been received up to the present time. <br />'The Board examined Police Department Motor Vehicle Accident Report #'63505 cover - <br />ing'accident of June 14, involving Fire Chiefs car, being driven at the time of the <br />accident by Richard D. Smith, and the privately owned 1950 Studebaker sedan of <br />Matthew J. Osowski, 619 N. Birdsell Street. Report shows name of witness; Mrs.' <br />Leonard Zane, 2818 S. Michigan Street.' Report was signed by Police Officer Pasalich. <br />Fire Chief Duck explained to the Board his version of the accident. The Board <br />ordered the report placed on file.. <br />fihe Fire Department application of Wendell Dale Kamp was reviewed by the Board <br />and "returned to the file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: <br />'Ira L. Hunsberger; Superintendent, being present, reported to the Board, the <br />re- installing of light at the first alley intersection south of Washington on <br />Laurel Street, upon the orders of Councilman Niezgodski and. Mayor Scott. The Board <br />approved the installation. <br />The requested removal of light pole No. J284 -985 to a point 22'5" south from <br />its present Location, due to interference with construction under way on the north- <br />east corner of Ewing Avenue and Miami Street was granted by the Board, the cost to <br />be paid by Barton Wade, upon presentation of bill for costs involved, <br />The recommendation of Superintendent Hunsberger for the installation of a <br />4000 lumen light at the intersections of Douglas, Arnold and Webster Streets with <br />Ewing Avenue, was approved by the Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Chief Richard J. Gillen, being present, mentioned the possibility of securing <br />a used air-conditioning-system for his department at a considerable reduction over <br />the cost--of new equipment of that type. The matter received brief consideration <br />and is to be held in abeyance. <br />The disposition of accumulated stolen bicycles, retained in storage by the <br />Police Department, was given some discussion. The present arrangement whereby <br />these bicycles are at intervals turned over to the Mishawaka Orphans Home for <br />repair and distribution among the children of that institution meets with the <br />approval of the Board, and no other dispostion is at this time recommended or <br />authorized by the Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 11:15 A.
