2011 & 2012 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance <br />Substitute Bill No. 57-10 Page 3 <br />Section III. Specialty Pays: <br />(a). Medical Specialty Pays: Specialty pays shall be paid to the sworn members of the South <br />Bend Fire Department who meet the department's requirements for each specialty and are regularly <br />assigned to perform such special duties. All specialty pays shall be prorated to the date of the regular <br />assignment for such special duty or duties and paid accordingly. Individuals performing any of the <br />following Medical Specialties shall be paid at the highest certification only. The following Medical <br />Specialty Pays are established for calendar years 2011 and 2012 which incorporate adjustments to provide <br />for incentives for sworn members to obtain their lead medic status and the department's required number <br />of Field Training Officers, as determined by the City Administration as part of the goal to eliminate the <br />non-rank specialty of "Lieutenant/Paramedic" by attrition: <br />Medical Specialties 2011 2012 <br />Certification Incentives: <br />First Responder $250 $250 <br />EMT-B $350 $350 <br />EMT-A $750 $750 <br />EMT-I $900 $900 <br />EMT-P $900 $900 <br />Lead Incentives: <br />EMT-I $350 $350 <br />EMT-P $500 $500 <br />Ambulance Incentives for those <br />Assigned to Ambulance: <br />EMT-P (Reserve) $500 $500 <br />EMT-A2 $2,575 $2,575 <br />EMT-I 3 $3,863 $3,863 <br />EMT-P $4,250 $4,250 <br />Incentives for Field Trainin~O~rcer (FTO) Assigned to Ambulance: <br />Lead Paramedic FTO <br />$850 <br />$850 <br />s If an EMT-A is assigned to an ambulance, then that EMT-A shall be paid while he or she is performing such duties at fifty <br />percent (50%) of the rate of special pay for paramedics. The dollar amount set forth reflects this percentage and were formerly <br />listed under "Working Out of Classification Pays". <br />s If an EMT-I is assigned to an ambulance, then that EMT-I shall be paid while performing such duties at seventy-five percent <br />(75%) of the listed rate of special pay for paramedics.
