2011 & 2012 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance Substitute Bill No. 57-10 Page 2 of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes of negotiating annual pay and monetary fringe benefits, which are addressed in this ordinance. Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. (b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, including upper level policy making positions as defined by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12, for calendar years 2011 and 2012 shall be established as follows: Salary Classification Fire Chief Assistant Fire Chiefs Battalion Chiefs Captains First Class Firefighter Second Class Firefighter Third Class Firefighter Effective O 1-01-11 $78,189 $71,724 $61,897 $50,901 $49,066 $44,150 $36,121 Effective 01-01-12 $79,753 $73,158 $63,135 $52,919 $50,047 $45,033 $36,843 Recognizing the Board of Public Safety's role, as set forth in the Indiana Code § 36-8-3-3, the South Bend Common Council acknowledges that the provisions of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. 62- 2009, which was adopted on December 16, 2009, shall apply to all other fire department rank restructuring and reorganization matters. t (c). Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of the South Bend Fire Department shall be $35,613 in the 2011 calendar year and $36,325 in the 2012 calendar year. (d). Salaries for Non-Rank Specialties: Qualified sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department who are regularly assigned to perform any of the following non-rank specialties, shall be paid as follows: Non-Rank Specialties: Arson Investigators Inspectors Instructors Lieutenant/Paramedic Pump Engineer/First Driver Effective O 1-01-11 $50,901 $50,901 $50,901 $50,490 $49,666 Effective 01-01-12 $52,919 $52,919 $52,919 $51,500 $50,659 It is the intent of the city to eliminate the non-rank specialty of "Lieutenant/Paramedic" by attrition, as further addressed in Section III (a) of this ordinance.
