2011 & 2012 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance <br />Substitute Bill No. 57-10 Page 2 <br />of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire <br />Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes of negotiating <br />annual pay and monetary fringe benefits, which are addressed in this ordinance. <br />Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean categories <br />for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. <br />(b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual pays <br />for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, including upper level policy making positions <br />as defined by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12, for calendar years 2011 and 2012 shall be established as follows: <br />Salary Classification <br />Fire Chief <br />Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />Battalion Chiefs <br />Captains <br />First Class Firefighter <br />Second Class Firefighter <br />Third Class Firefighter <br />Effective O 1-01-11 <br />$78,189 <br />$71,724 <br />$61,897 <br />$50,901 <br />$49,066 <br />$44,150 <br />$36,121 <br />Effective 01-01-12 <br />$79,753 <br />$73,158 <br />$63,135 <br />$52,919 <br />$50,047 <br />$45,033 <br />$36,843 <br />Recognizing the Board of Public Safety's role, as set forth in the Indiana Code § 36-8-3-3, the South <br />Bend Common Council acknowledges that the provisions of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. 62- <br />2009, which was adopted on December 16, 2009, shall apply to all other fire department rank <br />restructuring and reorganization matters. t <br />(c). Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of the <br />South Bend Fire Department shall be $35,613 in the 2011 calendar year and $36,325 in the 2012 calendar <br />year. <br />(d).
