REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 12, 2010 109 <br />AFPROVE SIDEWALK CAFE PERMIT APPLICATIONS <br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Board is in receipt of the following Sidewalk Cafe Permit <br />applications: <br />APPLICANT: LePeep <br />BUSINESS ADDRESS: 127 S. Michigan St. <br />DAYS/TIMES OF OPERATION: May to October 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />APPROVAL: Subject to Sandwich Board not Obstructing <br />Pedestrian Traffic <br />APPLICANT: Chicory Cafe <br />BUSINESS ADDRESS: 105 E. Jefferson Blvd., Ste 103 <br />DAYS/TIMES OF OPERATION: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 <br />p.m.; Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Inks made a motion that the Sidewalk Cafe Permit Applications be approved as outlined <br />above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION -OPEN AIR LICENSE <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: <br />NAME: Waka Dog <br />B~': Cheryl Copeland <br />ADDRESS: 70049 Beech Drive, Edwardsburg, MI 49112 <br />STAND TO BE LOCATED AT: In Front of Courthouse <br />DATES: 3/15/10 to 11/1/10 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br />BUSINESS TYPE: Hot Dog Stand <br />Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police <br />Department, Department of Code Enforcement, and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the <br />above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the <br />above license application was approved and referred to the Administration and Finance for <br />issuance.. <br />APPROVAL OF REOUEST TO USE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY - 106 SADIE STREET - <br />JERRY PRICE, SR. (ALL WEST, INC.) <br />Mr. Gilot stated favorable recommendations have been received from the Division of <br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Community and Economic Development, Park Department, <br />and the Legal Department, in conjunction with a request from Mr. Jerry Price, All West, Inc., <br />809 South Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana 46619, to use the City-owned property referenced <br />above for the use as a Community Garden. Community & Economic Developments stated that <br />they informed Mr. Price that the vacant lot at 106 Sadie Street is actually two lots and includes <br />2221 West Washington Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON REQUEST TO USE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY -- 803 NORTH <br />NOTRE DAME AVENUE -NEAR NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL & UNITY <br />GARDENS, INC. <br />Mr. Gilot stated favorable recommendations have been received from the Division of <br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Park Department, and the Legal Department, in conjunction <br />with a request from the Near Northeast Neighborhood Council & Unity Gardens, Inc., to use the <br />City-owned property referenced above for the use as a Community Garden. Community & <br />Economic Development stated that the space for a garden at the requested location is very <br />limited and may conflict with other activities and parking/traffic at the Northeast Neighborhood <br />Center. A more appropriate site would be at one of the neighborhood's City-owned vacant lots, <br />in a corner of a City park, on vacant land held by the Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization <br />Organization, or Notre Dame. <br />Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion to authorize Board Member Donald Inks, Community and <br />Economic Development, to work with the Near Northeast Neighborhood Association and the <br />petitioner to develop an agreeable site. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion, which carried. <br />
