REGULAR MEETING APRIL 12, 2010 109 AFPROVE SIDEWALK CAFE PERMIT APPLICATIONS Mr. Gilot indicated that the Board is in receipt of the following Sidewalk Cafe Permit applications: APPLICANT: LePeep BUSINESS ADDRESS: 127 S. Michigan St. DAYS/TIMES OF OPERATION: May to October 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. APPROVAL: Subject to Sandwich Board not Obstructing Pedestrian Traffic APPLICANT: Chicory Cafe BUSINESS ADDRESS: 105 E. Jefferson Blvd., Ste 103 DAYS/TIMES OF OPERATION: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mr. Inks made a motion that the Sidewalk Cafe Permit Applications be approved as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION -OPEN AIR LICENSE Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: Waka Dog B~': Cheryl Copeland ADDRESS: 70049 Beech Drive, Edwardsburg, MI 49112 STAND TO BE LOCATED AT: In Front of Courthouse DATES: 3/15/10 to 11/1/10 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. BUSINESS TYPE: Hot Dog Stand Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Department of Code Enforcement, and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Administration and Finance for issuance.. APPROVAL OF REOUEST TO USE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY - 106 SADIE STREET - JERRY PRICE, SR. (ALL WEST, INC.) Mr. Gilot stated favorable recommendations have been received from the Division of Engineering, Code Enforcement, Community and Economic Development, Park Department, and the Legal Department, in conjunction with a request from Mr. Jerry Price, All West, Inc., 809 South Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana 46619, to use the City-owned property referenced above for the use as a Community Garden. Community & Economic Developments stated that they informed Mr. Price that the vacant lot at 106 Sadie Street is actually two lots and includes 2221 West Washington Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request was approved. RECOMMENDATION ON REQUEST TO USE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY -- 803 NORTH NOTRE DAME AVENUE -NEAR NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL & UNITY GARDENS, INC. Mr. Gilot stated favorable recommendations have been received from the Division of Engineering, Code Enforcement, Park Department, and the Legal Department, in conjunction with a request from the Near Northeast Neighborhood Council & Unity Gardens, Inc., to use the City-owned property referenced above for the use as a Community Garden. Community & Economic Development stated that the space for a garden at the requested location is very limited and may conflict with other activities and parking/traffic at the Northeast Neighborhood Center. A more appropriate site would be at one of the neighborhood's City-owned vacant lots, in a corner of a City park, on vacant land held by the Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization Organization, or Notre Dame. Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion to authorize Board Member Donald Inks, Community and Economic Development, to work with the Near Northeast Neighborhood Association and the petitioner to develop an agreeable site. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion, which carried.
