Tax Abatement <br /> <br />(2) continued… <br /> <br />property tax deduction for property located at <br />3425 W. Lathrop (McCormick Foods) <br /> <br /> <br />B. Airport Economic Development Area <br /> <br />(1) Resolution No. 2689 accepting the transfer <br />of real property from St. Joseph County, <br />Indiana. (Millennium Environmental, 604 <br />S. Scott Street and EMI, Inc., 2020 S. <br />Main Street) <br /> <br />Mr. Inks noted that Resolution No. 2689 <br />accepts the transfer of two properties from <br />St. Joseph County. The former EMI property <br />at 2020 S. Main Street and the former <br />Millennium Environmental property at 604 <br />S. Scott Street have both been vacant for <br />some time and have environmental issues. <br />The county obtained title to the property <br />through the tax sale process and is conveying <br />them to the Commission for $1 per parcel. <br /> <br />Staff has worked with environmental legal <br />counsel to obtain a “Comfort Letter” for each <br />property from the Indiana Brownfields <br />Program. The purpose of the Comfort Letter <br />is to protect the Commission from <br />environmental liability for the property. <br /> <br />Our plans are to demolish both properties and <br />make the land available for new <br />development. The Indiana Department of <br />Environmental Management has agreed to <br />complete a remediation of the soils at the <br />Millennium property and we will coordinate <br />our demolition with them so that they can <br /> 8 <br /> <br />
