REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 2010 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />John Adams High School as well as the City of South Bend and the State of Indiana in <br />Pennsylvania at the 2010 Indiana High School Mock Trial Competition in a very <br />respectful manner. He congratulated them on their accomplishments. <br /> <br />Judith Overmyer, Sponsor, John Adams High School, spoke in favor of this Resolution. <br />She noted that they have been champion runners-up for several years. She stated that the <br />students this year are only juniors and tied with four (4) other states. She stated that these <br />students are very dedicated and take great pride in their work preparing for this <br />competition. She stated that they are an elite team who she said will be representing the <br />Adams Eagles next year and to look for them competing in Phoenix. <br /> <br />Czesia Eid, Peter Doyle, and David Kern, members of the 2010 John Adams High School <br />Mock Trial Team gave a brief synopsis of their case that was presented at the <br />competition. They thanked the Council for this honor. <br /> <br />Councilmember LaFountain made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF CITY OFFICES <br />There were no Reports from City Offices at this time. <br /> <br />RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />The Council did not resolve into the Committee of the Whole, there were no bills for <br />Public Hearing at this time. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />There were no bills for Public Hearing at this time. <br /> <br />BILLS – THIRD READING <br />There were no bills for Third Reading at this time. <br /> <br />RESOLUTIONS <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4031-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br /> DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> COMMONLY KNOWN AS 2629 FOUNDATION <br /> DRIVE AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION <br /> AREA FOR PURPOSES OF A (5) FIVE-YEAR <br /> PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT <br /> FOR VALUE PRODUCTION, INC. <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a petition for personal property tax abatement consideration has been <br />filed with the City Clerk for consideration by the Common Council of the City of South <br />, <br />Bend, Indiana, requesting that the area commonly known as 2629 Foundation Drive <br />South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly described as follows: <br /> <br />A parcel of land in the Southwest Quarter of Section 28, Township 38 North, <br />Range 2 East, St. Joseph County, Indiana <br /> <br />and which has Key Number 25-1010-0400.12 be designated as an Economic <br />Revitalization Area under the provisions of Indiana Code 6-1.1-12.1 et seq., and South <br />Bend Municipal Code Sections 2-76 et seq., and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Community and Economic Development has <br />concluded an investigation and prepared a report with information sufficient for the <br />Common Council to determine that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area <br />under Indiana Code 6-1.1-12.1, et seq., and South Bend Municipal Code Sections 2-76, et <br /> 6 <br /> <br />
