South Bend Central Development Area <br /> <br />(2) continued… <br /> <br />approval of a not-to-exceed amount of <br />$54,000 in case staff feels the need to do up <br />to three site specific studies. <br /> <br />Mr. Schalliol noted that the update will be <br />useful to the new downtown recruitment <br />person, Tamara Nicholl-Smith. <br /> <br />Mr. Schalliol noted that in 2006 Buxton’s <br />report was a hard copy in a large binder. <br />Over the last several years Buxton has begun <br />to use a web based interface for its data <br />management, called Scout. They have <br />offered one year free trial of that program. <br />The program would not only be a tool for the <br />city to manage the new Buxton data, but <br />Scout could be shared with interested <br />commercial prospects as well as existing <br />businesses in the city. If we want extended <br />use of Scout, the cost would be $12,000 per <br />year. <br /> <br />Mr. Downes asked for an explanation of the <br />“marketing package for individual grocers” <br />component. Mr. Schalliol responded that <br />after Buxton has identified either a specific <br />store, or a type of store for an area, they can <br />develop targeted marketing materials <br />appropriate to store. <br /> <br />Mr. Varner asked if the web site will track <br />how much use it gets.
