Danch, L.A. <br />Ron Harner, P.S. <br />July 6, 2010 <br />Mr. David Relos <br />Department of Community & Economic Development <br />12' Floor County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Land Surveyors • Professional Engineers <br />Landscape Architects • Land Planners <br />Re: Proposal for Landscape Architecture and Engineering services for: <br />a) The Southwest corner of Main Street and Jefferson Blvd., containing the three (3) parcels of land <br />from Jefferson Blvd, south to the vacated alley adjacent and north of the Holladay Properties <br />building. <br />Dear Mr. Relos, <br />Danch Harner & Associates is please to submit this proposal for professional Landscape Architecture and <br />Engineering services for your consideration. It is our understanding that this project will consist of adding <br />site, landscape, and curb improvements to the above mentioned parcels. <br />Task 1: Preliminary Desiqn: <br />a) Preliminary Desiqn: This work will include a preliminary plan together with all the requested <br />improvements and probable cost estimates. This plan will be submitted to the City for review and <br />approval. Improvements to be added are as follows. <br />North Lot: <br />1. New topsoil and hydroseed. <br />2. Improve planting bed along the West border by adding a clean edge, removing weeds, adding <br />perennials & fresh mulch. <br />3. Remove metal fence posts/bollards along boundary. <br />4. Add three bench pads (each containing two benches) and blend into the existing tree pattern. <br />Middle Parking Lot: <br />1. Remove existing curb cut on Main Street, replace with new curb. <br />2. Remove block wall and add evergreen screen hedge. <br />3. Improve visual appearance of parking lot entry by removing unnecessary elements (i.e., <br />pipes, concrete, light fixture). <br />4. Reseal and restripe parking lot (add alternate for milling and resurfacing parking lot). <br />5. Remove concrete barriers at back of lot. <br />6. Add alternate to replace existing parking lot light fixtures to match Michigan Street fixtures. <br />South Lot: <br />1. Remove metal fence posts/bollards along boundary. <br />2. Remove guardrail from West side of lot and improve landscape bed with perennials, mulch <br />and edging. Add one tree to the West side to create a visual barrier down vacated alley. <br />3.
