GOALS AND DESIRED RESULTS <br />The primary goal of Community ID is to prepare South Bend to successfully <br />expand its retail sector. <br />CommunitylD serves as the framework for developing a sustainable marketing <br />program that not only achieves short -term goals but also endures to ensure the <br />economic viability of the retail sector over the long -term. Such a marketing <br />program will bring the following desired results: <br />• Residents' desires to shop and dine at home will be fulfilled <br />• Retail leakage will be minimized <br />• Tax revenues (property and sale/use taxes) will increase <br />• Employment opportunities will grow <br />• South Bend's ability to capture other econo mic opportunities will be <br />enhanced <br />6 <br />
