South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -June 4, 2010
included in the current golf course budget.
The Lease does include language concerning
charges for late payments (paragraph 25).
Mr. Inks noted that in the past staff has
indicated that city policy does not allow a
lease that contains a clause for late fees for
late payments. The rationale for allowing the
late charges is the waiving of the excess
mileage charge for the old van. This charge
would have been $2,542.24. The full charge
is being waived, and more than offsets the
cost of any late charges that may be assessed
under the new lease.
Upon a motion by Ms. King seconded by Mr
Downes and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved the van lease for
Blackthorn Golf Club subject to final legal
review.
(5) Consultant's update on Ignition Park.
Mr. Inks noted that the Commission
requested an update on Ignition Park. Ms.
Hathaway gave that report.
Ms. Hathaway commended the Commission
on understanding the timeliness of creating a
position with a focus on Ignition Park. It is
not premature. She thanked the Commission
for allowing her to be at the center of the
most exciting thing happening in South Bend
in the forty years she has lived here. She said
the community has growing excitement about
the possibility Ignition Park presents.
Ms. Hathaway broke her presentation down
into three parts: where we are, where we
need to be and how we might get there. She
said the how we might get there is an
evolving statement.
COMMISSION APPROVED THE VAN LEASE FOR
BLACKTHORN GOLF CLUB SUBJECT TO FINAL
LEGAL REVEIW
CONSULTANT'S UPDATE ON IGNITION PARK
9
