The donations were accepted. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 28-2005 -AMENDING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HIRING <br />POLICY <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Taylor, seconded by President Rodriguez, the following Resolution was <br />adopted by the Board of Public Safety: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety at its meeting on June 22, 2000 adopted Resolution <br />81-2000, a policy for hiring new firefighters, which Resolution has been amended from time to time; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the policy does not make any provision for the rehiring of former members of <br />the South Bend Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS it is in the best interest of the South Bend Fire Department to have the option to <br />rehire former members of the South Bend Fire Department who left the Department in good <br />,standing. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that: <br />1. Anew paragraph be added to Resolution No. 81-2000, as amended, which new <br />paragraph shall read in its entirety; <br />All former members of the South Bend Fire Department who left the Department in <br />good standing within the past two (2) years shall be eligible for reappointment to the <br />Department providing they meet all of PERF's standards and Indiana statutes and are <br />recommended for reappointment by the Chief of the South Bend Fire Department. <br />Any individual reappointed shall be appointed as a probationary employee and must <br />comply with all hiring standards concerning medically related certification <br />
