South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –May 21, 2010

6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)

A. Public Hearing

(1) continued…

and Prairie. Another area is along East
Sample west of the parcels added last year
for Ivy Tech’s expansion. There is a single
parcel on Maplewood near the airport. The
city already owns some adjacent properties
on Maplewood. Other properties are the
Gorny Plaza properties on South Main and
six properties on the west side of Prairie.

PHRN.2668
Mr. Varner opened the public hearing for
UBLIC EARING ON ESOLUTION O
anyone who wished to speak.

Mr. Julius Wesszo, 1512 S. Scott St. I think
I’m for it. Maybe it will bring some jobs to
South Bend that we need, get rid of some
junk homes that need to be cleaned up
around the neighborhood. I’ve lived there
almost eighteen years. It was one of the most
gorgeous neighborhoods around. Now it’s,
you know. If we can revitalize it and make
some good use of it, I’m in favor of it.

Ms. Virginia Calvin, Ivy Tech. I’m in
support of it. I think it’s good for citizens,
good for Hoosiers and good for the South
Bend area. It’s a good thing.

Ms. Carla Davis, 1511 Kemble Avenue. I
think this is a good thing. I think the
neighborhood has went down hill. We have
live there eight years. We have three young
children and would like to move somewhere
else. We support it.

Mr. Bill Anksorus, 1008 W. Sample. I
would be in favor of that property being
7
