V.i~ , ~ {~ <br />". tyro ~~: <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION JANUARY 5, 2005 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, <br />2005 with President Elmer Carr and Board Members Jesusa Rodriguez, Wesley Taylor, and Donald <br />Alford present. Also present were Police Chief Thomas H. Fautz, Fire Chief Robert Quinn and <br />Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13`h Floor, County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />-Election of Board President -Added to A eg nda <br />Mr. Bodnar explained the procedure of the election of the Board President. <br />- Request for Continuance -Christopher Houser <br />Mr. Bodnar stated a Position of Police Chief and a letter from Mrs. Linda Hopkins were <br />being submitted to the Board for filing. Mr. Houser submitted an Officer's Report asking for <br />confirmation of what the Board was holding a hearing for. Mr. Bodnar explained that Mr. Houser is <br />entitiled to a hearing. In addition, the testimony of Mr. Dustin Hopkins is imperative, however, he <br />refused to meet with Mr. Bodnar twice. Mr. Bodnar suggested the dates of February 3 or 7, 2005, as <br />the hearing date. The Clerk of the Board will check for availability of a room for the hearing before <br />the regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on this date. <br />- Tuition Reimbursement Program -Fire Department <br />This is a Duty Manual addition, modeled closely to the Police Department program. It exists <br />after a decade, and will be formally added to the Duty Manual. The Program is available to all sworn <br />fire fighters. <br />SWEARING IN OF BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY MEMBER <br />Ms. Mary Beth Wisniewski, Chief Deputy Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Wesley B. <br />Taylor as a Board of Public Safety Member. <br />' ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, President Carr declared the meeting <br />adjourned at 8:40 a.m. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Amer L. T or, Me <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION JANUARY 5, 2005 <br />The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room, 14`h Floor, County City Building, South <br />Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) (A) and <br />adjourned at 8:45 a.m. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject <br />matter as specified in the Public Notice. <br />
