V.i~ , ~ {~ ". tyro ~~: PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION JANUARY 5, 2005 The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 with President Elmer Carr and Board Members Jesusa Rodriguez, Wesley Taylor, and Donald Alford present. Also present were Police Chief Thomas H. Fautz, Fire Chief Robert Quinn and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13`h Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana. -Election of Board President -Added to A eg nda Mr. Bodnar explained the procedure of the election of the Board President. - Request for Continuance -Christopher Houser Mr. Bodnar stated a Position of Police Chief and a letter from Mrs. Linda Hopkins were being submitted to the Board for filing. Mr. Houser submitted an Officer's Report asking for confirmation of what the Board was holding a hearing for. Mr. Bodnar explained that Mr. Houser is entitiled to a hearing. In addition, the testimony of Mr. Dustin Hopkins is imperative, however, he refused to meet with Mr. Bodnar twice. Mr. Bodnar suggested the dates of February 3 or 7, 2005, as the hearing date. The Clerk of the Board will check for availability of a room for the hearing before the regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on this date. - Tuition Reimbursement Program -Fire Department This is a Duty Manual addition, modeled closely to the Police Department program. It exists after a decade, and will be formally added to the Duty Manual. The Program is available to all sworn fire fighters. SWEARING IN OF BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY MEMBER Ms. Mary Beth Wisniewski, Chief Deputy Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Wesley B. Taylor as a Board of Public Safety Member. T or, Me EXECUTIVE SESSION JANUARY 5, 2005 The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room, 14`h Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) (A) and adjourned at 8:45 a.m. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice.
