South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –April 23, 2010

5. OLD BUSINESS

A. Public Hearings

(5) continued…

coordination of the adjacent residential and
commercial property owners.

Staff asks for favorable approval of Revised
Resolution No. 2667.

Ms. King asked if the flow of the water
would remain the same under the revised
plan as it has been until now. Mr. Schalliol
responded that it would, but it should be less
likely that water would flow into the storm
sewer.

Ms. King asked if the cost of the revised plan
is more moderate than the plan to acquire
properties and relocate the pond. Under the revised plan we expect it
will be a $600K to $800K project. The cost
will increase if we make a developable parcel
on Miami Street because we will have to
bring in fill dirt.

Mr. Downes asked if the other neighbors on
Hawbaker are agreeable to this plan. Mr.
Schalliol responded that they are.

Mr. Downes asked what the impact would be
if the revised plan doesn’t solve the drainage
problems. Mr. Schalliol responded that the
revised plan wouldn’t make the situation
worse; it is possible there would be no
8
