South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –April 9, 2010

began with a declaratory resolution by the
Redevelopment Commission, which was
approved by the Area Plan Commission, then
the Common Council and has returned to the
Commission for a public hearing and action.
The parcels in question are adjacent to the
Erskine Plaza shopping area. Two of the
properties are presently owned by the city,
one is privately owned and is used as a
shortcut connector to the western end of the
western most pond from the shopping center
on out. Three residential properties are
proposed to be added to the acquisition list.

The pond project is directly related to the
present and future planning objectives for the
Southside Development Area. The pond
project will improve the drainage situation,
not only in the immediate Miami and Ireland
intersection, but also downstream. The
development of the new pond system will
create a new taxable development site on the
Southside for future commercial
development. The pond project itself was
part of the discussion in the confirming
resolution documents that was approved by
this body, Area Plan and the Commission
when the Southside Development Area was
established. Drainage in this area has long
been a concern.

PHRN.2667
Ms. Jones opened the public hearing for
UBLIC EARING ON ESOLUTION O
anyone who wished to be heard concerning
Resolution No. 2667.

Mr. Warren Ward
, 751 W.
