658 <br />14 <br />Wm, Qualls Supt of Poles and Hires reports as follows on request <br />of Indiana Bell Telephne Company to do the following fork in alley between <br />Division Street and Monroe Streets west bf Scott Street set, eight (8) poles and. <br />Four (4) anchors also place two duct tile across Chapin Street. <br />There are no existing pole lines in the section covered in att soled <br />petition, one, of -the Electric company Ad one.of the Telephone Company, Both <br />pole lines are in a bad state of preservation. That portion of these poles lines <br />.that extend east of Chapila Street lie within the boundaries of the UndergroundDistrict, the western boundary being along Chppin Street as far south as Dunn <br />Strse t; <br />In aceordanc6 with City Ordinance creating the Underground District <br />I would recommend that both these pole lines be removed and the service placed <br />underground from Scott Street to the west, side of Chapin Street and from Chap4n' <br />Street to Pine Street the serial construction be such that moth companies will <br />use the same poles, thus reducing the number of poles in this alley. Report, <br />approved..' <br />Report on petition for lights on South Michigan Street'filed by <br />" -Supt. Qua.i l s . <br />In sty study of S. Michigan St, with a view of placing ornamental <br />lighting equipment from Monroe St. to Broadwayt T hs;ve re u ced the number of uni <br />units to what, in my judgement , would be wzact requirements for sufficiently <br />'illuminating this district. •I have kept in mind the annual expense to --the City <br />this improvement will invoive end have been as economical with lights as I feel <br />consistent with the situation. <br />• <br />From Monroe St. to the south side of -South Si.., T would recommend <br />12 business district srnamental lights of 6000 lumens. <br />From a point 280 feet south of Aronson St, to the south side 6f <br />Ohio St., I would recommend 20 Business District Ornamental lights of 6000. <br />lumens. <br />From Ohio St. to Broadway,.I-would recommend•25 boulevard lights <br />of 2500 lumens, Octagonal top, with refractor. <br />The costs would be as follows, providing the I. & M. electric Co. <br />will furnish same at contract prices:- <br />• 32 business Dist. Ornnmental - 6000 lumens <br />at $57.50 <br />25 Boulevard, 2500 lumen, 1,050.00 <br />at $42.00,per year........... <br />2•, 890.00 <br />,10 aro lights to be'removed, ` <br />at $65.00 per year......$650.00 <br />1 boulevard light to be removed -1000 lumen <br />at $28.00 per year 28 s00 <br />8.00 <br />• 6 s.00 <br />Total Cost .............. f29212.00 <br />WM.
