Tuesday, February 7th., 1928. <br />The Board met in regular session at 9 A. I!, All members present. <br />i!inutes of meetings held January 3lst., 1928, read and approved. <br />The Board approved the f olloiring renewal certificates <br />i <br />Emmett Shaul bond for $I, 000.00 signed by the Yetropolitan Casual ' <br />Insurance Co., <br />j <br />W. 01. Sibley bond for $I,040.00 signed by Standard Accident Insur <br />ance Co. <br />I The Board approved the recommendation of :gym. F. Qualls for the j <br />installation of a 4000 lumen light at the corner of Chalfant and Eddy Streets. Same <br />ordered. i <br />The Board approved the recommendation of Ift. F. Qu&Lls for the <br />the installation of a 4000 lumen light at the corner of Notre Dame Avenue and St. <br />Vincent Street at a cost of 45.00 per year. Same ordered. <br />The Board approved the recommendation of Wm. F. Qualls allowing � <br />the .Indiana Bell Telephone Co., permission to install under ground conduits along <br />Portage Avenue as petitioned by said company under date of January 24th., 1928. <br />City 4ngineer, 1Tr. H. "- Wray, filed the following primary assess-?• <br />ment rolls: <br />Assessment roll for the grade, curb and vialk improvement on South, <br />"fain street (west side) from the alley south of Garst Street, north 66 feet under <br />Various Streets Qontract Resolution No.I472. <br />li <br />Assessment roll for the grade,, curb and walk improvement on <br />Kin.yon Street from Portage Avenue to Shermand Avenue, whey; necessary, on certain lots j <br />in northwest 3rd., Addition under Various Streets Contract Resolution No.I472. <br />Assessment roll for Grade and walk on the south side of Sample <br />Street from alley east of Carroll Street west for 74 feet under Various Streets contract <br />t y <br />Under Improvement Resolution Yo.I472. <br />!I <br />Assessment roll for.__grade, curb and walk on Bena oust (south sid' ) <br />from Cleveland Avenue west under Various Stiieets contract under Improvement Resoluti on 11 <br />f i <br />No.I472. <br />Assessment roll for grade and walk on Monroe Street (north side) <br />from 99.5 feet east of Chapin Street for 99 feet under VariousStreets contract under I <br />Improvement Resolution 11o.I472. <br />In all of the above named assessment rolls, the Board hereby j <br />orders that ontthe I4th., day of March 1928, this Board will meet in their office at <br />I0.00 A. M., to hear and receive remonstrances from all :persons whose property has been{ <br />assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the several lots and parcels of <br />i�land primarily assessed for said improvements have been or will be benefited in the <br />amounts sho= on said assessment roll. The Board further orders that notices of said <br />hearings shall be published on the IOth., day of February and on the IIth., day of <br />February 1928 in the South Bend News Times -and Tribune according to law. <br />City Engineer, lair. H. G. Wray, filed plans, specifications and <br />estimates and the Board adopted the following improvement resolutions: <br />Improvement Resolution for the local sewer in Fox Street between <br />Southeast Trunk Sewer and Sampson Street under Improvement Resolution No.I987. <br />Improvement Resolution Tlo. I988 for the pavement improvement on <br />Lafayette Street from Calvert Street to Ewing Avenue. <br />In both of the above named resolutions, the Board hereby order <br />that on the 29th. , day of February I928, this Board will meet in their office in the <br />City Hall at 7-I5 P. 1% , to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons ,,,hose <br />property is liable to be assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the III <br />several lots and parcels of land will be benefited in accordance iirith the estimated <br />cost of same as reported by the City �gineer. The Board further orders that notices i <br />of said hearings shall be published on the IOth. , day of February and on the I7th. , <br />day of February 1928 in the South Bend News Times and Tribune according to lays and that; <br />notice be mailed to property owners according to law. <br />Yr. Paul ''ehwertley, representing Sam Slutsky, and City attorney <br />Mr. I. S. Romig, were present regarding the matter of the sewer tap on the lot at the <br />i <br />corner of Lincoln `lay rest and Taylor Street. After hearing the facts of the case in <br />question, the Board upon the advise of City Attorney 11r. Romig, decid=�s to pay Mr. <br />Slutzky the sum of 050.OQ, which is approximately one half o f the cost of locating <br />or putting in a new tap for use on this particular lot. <br />
