Wednesday, March 23rd., I927. 9 i course, were laid a few years ago in South Bend and, to my knowledge, they have with- stood traffic very well, CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS. FOR PA M hT. This specification to remain the same as recommended to you in my report of March Ist., above referred to, with, however, this exception. To permit the use of unwashed bank run materials if satisfactory to the i Engineer and if such material is screened and separated in order that the fine anti course aggregates may be measured separately and in proper -specified proportions. This provision, while properly safeguarding our work, will permit the owners of bank run material to furnish such material in competition with the gravel companies. I feel that this will be a very satisfactory arrangement. Permitting the use of bank run material under these circumstances will obviate the increased prices for improvements referred to in my report of March Ist. I would further remommend that the stipulation in my report of March Ist., regarding the use of flux oil for the asphaltic types of pavements be stricken out. I have done considerable research in the matter of diluting or fluxing asphalt of extremely high and, this is penetrations while method of more or less general practide throughout the state, I feel that we should insist upon using asphalt of certain specified penetration and reject all that does not meet*ithosd requirements rather than to adjust penetration by fluxing method. I am somewhat fearful that this privilege might be abused some time, possibly at the expense of our pavements. In all other respects except as-=hdrein amended, my report and recommendation of March Ist., is awaiting your consideration.. 0 Respectfully submitted, H. G. dray, City Civil Engineer." City Engineer, Mr. H. G. stray, filed primary assessment roll for the pipe sewer on Queen Street from Blaine Avenue to a point 10 feet East of the West line of Lot 139 in North Test Addition under Improvement Resolution No.I7640 L. H. Webster, Contractor and the total amount due the contractor is $427.70. In the above matter the Board hereby orders that on the 6th., day of April I9279 this Board, at it's office in the City Hall at 7-I5 P. M., will meet to hear and receive remonstrances from all persons whose property has been assessed for said improvement and will decide whether the lots and Ie.rcels of land have been or will be benefited in the amounts shovan on said roll or in a greater or less amount than that shown on said roll. Board further orders that notice of_said hearing shall be published in the South Bend News Times and Tribune on the 26th., day of march and on the 2nd.j day of April, 1927.
