MEETING -- NOVEMBER 25, 1940 <br />Mr. Znudzinski turned over to the Board, a check for 912.37 from the Koontz -Wagner <br />Co., for the use of the grader and operator. $3.37 of which was returned to him for <br />payment of labor. <br />ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Qualls made a recommendation for a street light at the inter- <br />section of Twyckenham Dr., and Sorin St. It was moved, seconded and unanimously <br />carried that a light be installed at this intersection. <br />Four corner post type traffic signals were installed at 11-ain & South St., Gctober <br />17th, 1940. On three corners are the regular two -unit signals and on the northwest <br />corner there is a three unit signal, at a cost of .62.10 per year. <br />• <br />The suspended type traffic signal at Chapin & Sample Sts., was removed and four <br />two -unit post type signals were installed on October 21, 19400 at a cost of $55.20 per <br />year. <br />The suspended type traffic signal at Ironwood Drive and Mishawaka Ave., was removed <br />and two three -unit post type signals installed October 19, 1940, at a cost of $41.40 <br />per year. <br />C141iETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Lisle McNabb, Sexton was present and matters pertaining to his <br />department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />at 12 :20 P. Ill. <br />OKI <br />CIer <br />BOARD PUBLIC : TS. <br />MEETING.-- DECEMBER 2, 1940 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was.held on Monday, December 2, 1940 <br />at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting.were read and <br />approved. Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $253.35 were approved <br />and ordered paid. <br />Indiana Institutional Ind. $29.95 South Bend Lathe Works $10.44 <br />Indiana & Michigan Elec. D. 2.00 <br />The following claims to be paid out of Special W.P.A. fund or the Interceptor Sewer <br />W.P.A. fund in the amount of $733.60 were approved and ordered paid. <br />W. P.A. Truck Rental 733.60 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Tony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner was present, and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />An insurance policy in the amount of $10,000.00 public liability and $5,000.00 <br />property damage was filed by the Blue Lines, Inc., and issued by the Travelers Insurance <br />Co. This policy was approved by the Board and ordered filed. <br />NGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Continuation certificates were received for Mitchel Hahn and <br />Adolph H. Stuhmer, on their excavation bonds. These certificates were approved and <br />ordered filed. <br />L.ECTRIC DEPARTIENT: Mr. Qualls, Electrical Inspector was authorized to install a 4000 <br />omen, mast arm construction street light at the intersection of Woodside and Dale <br />,Ave s . ' <br />Two 4000 lumen, overhead mast arm construction lamps have been installed in Garden <br />• ane Addition to the City of South Bend, at the cost of $32.40 each per year. <br />Mr. Qualls was authorized to ask for bids on a half -ton pick-up truck for the <br />ectric Department. <br />RAFFIC DIVISIONt A letter was received from the State Highway Commission, stating that <br />he traffic signals requested for train and Monroe Sts., and Main St. and La Fayette Blvd. <br />ave been approved and will be installed in the near future. <br />Mr. M. H. Utter of the South Bend Motor Bias Co., appeared before the Board with a <br />lan showing the homes located in the vicinity of the bus route suggested by Mr. Scott <br />f the Bendix Home Appliance Co. He also -presented figures obtained from a check <br />urvey made between 3:00 P. M. and 5:00 P K. Thursday and Friday, November 28th and <br />9th, 1940. The figures show --:that not more than twenty persons working'at Bendix Home <br />
