SPECIAL IEETING --, JA11TUA1HY 18, 1940 <br />A special meeting was held for further consideration of the appeal by the United <br />States Hoffman 1-achinery Corporation for permit to install dry cleaning equipment at �I <br />217 E. Jefferson Blvd. 'This being an appeal from the decision of the Building Commis- I, <br />sioner not to issue a. permit. <br />The Board having been infon.ied by the Building Coru.riissioner and the Fire Chief <br />that. an inspection of the building had been made by the Fire Marshall t s office of <br />the State of Indiana, and that the Fire 1farshall t s office would grant a permit for <br />the installation of this equipment on these premises, provided certain specific <br />alterations and improvements in the building ivere made. <br />The Board now grants the appeal of the applicant for permit and directs the <br />.Building Commissioner to issue a permit for the.installation at #217 E. Jefferson <br />Blvd., provided; that all of the recommendations of the State Fire Mlarshall's office <br />have been complied with. That a permit has been obtained from the State Fire <br />Marshall for the installation of this equipment in the building, and further that <br />the applicant file with the Building Commissioner, an affidavit as to the use of the <br />second floor of the building, stating it is not in use and will not be used, during <br />the gontinuation of the use of,the solvent, for residentual purposes, or for any <br />other purpose by any other than the one to whom the permit was issued, and that the <br />operators of the dry cleaning establishment to be located at this address, shall use <br />only what is commercially known as "140 F Solvent". <br />There being no further business to come before the Board., the meeting adjourned <br />at 5 : 45 P <br />ATT, T: <br />IFLEEl IIY a -- JA TUARY 22, 1940 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public I,Vorks was held on iionday, January 22, <br />1940 at 9.:00_ A. 1_. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were <br />read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $748.09 were approved and ordered <br />paid. Zmudzinski ;a„ pre..ent and business <br />pretaining to his department was discussed. <br />The question of replacing Street Department equipment, which is beyond repair <br />was brought up before the Board. This equipment includes two half ton trucks and one <br />-ond one-half ton truck. <br />The contract presented by the 1;IcCaffery Co., 'for the purcjase of Incandescent <br />Las for the year 1940 was approved and ordered filed. <br />The City Engineer was authorized to contact the County Highway Officials relative <br />to the maintenance of the 'Hismi Street Hill. <br />Ernest T. Tranbergts claim for repairs to his car caused by hitting a depression <br />in the pavement while driving on East Jefferson St., was again presented to the Board <br />and again denied. <br />ivlir.
