-19 511 MEETING -- DECEMBER 11, 1939 PROPOSAL TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:- The undersigned hereby proposes to furnish electricity for lighting traffic lights and :other lights in the City of South Bend, Indiana, in accordance with the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by the Board of Public Works at the prices following A. For the supply of electricity to the following units furnished and maintained �b7 the City: • Traffic director units, suspension type having normally but four lamps of 67.5 watts or less capacity burning at the same time except during a change in signal when not to exceed 5 lamps are burning simultaneously for a period not to exceed 151`� of the total time to complete an entire cycle of signal changes. $41.52 per unit per annum. Traffic director units, post type, having normally but 2 lamps of 67.5 watts or less capacity burning at the same time except during a change in signal when not to exceed 4 lamps are burning simultaneously for a period not to exceed 15% of the total time to complete an entire cycle of signal changes. • $13.80 per unit per annum Traffic director units, post type, having normally but 1 lamp of 67.5 watts or less capacity burning at the same time except during a change in signal when not to exceed 2 lamps are burning simultaneously for a period not to exceed 15% of the total time to complete an entire cycle of signal changes. 6.90 per unit per annum 1000 - lumen danger indicator units �27.00 per unit per annum 1000 - lumen police recall units 1.00 per unit per annum B. For the supply of electricity to the following units furnished by the City and maintained by the Contractor: 2500 - lumen incandescent lamps (Twyckenham and Ernsperger Bridge Lights) $28.20 per unit per annum 2500 - lumen incandescent lamps ('testern Avenue Underpass Lights) $26.40 per unit per annum • Payments to be made in equal monthly installments, each installment to be due and payable on or before the 20th of eaeh month succeeding that in which service is rendered; and hereby agrees to execute the Contract in the form ' heretofore adopted by said Board of Public Works within ten (10) days from the date of the awarding of the contract to it. . English, Vice President, These bids being the only bids received and being in proper form, they were accept ed by the Board and the following contracts were entered into:, CONTRACT, PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR LIGHTING THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA THIS AGREEIENT, made and entered into this llth day of December, 1939 between the City of South Bend, a municipal corporation of the State of Indiana, by and • through its Board of Public Works, party -of the first part, hereinafter referred to as the "City", and Indiana & Michigan Eledtric Company, an Indiana Corporation, party of the Second part hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor", pursuant to a resolution of the Board of Public Works passed at a special meeting held on the 28th day of November, 1939. W I T N E S S E T H That the parties hereto each in consideration of the agreements on the part of the other herein contained, have mutually agreed and hereby mutually agree as follows: 1. The Contractor shall provide, maintain and operate: (a) A street lighting system in the City of South Bend, Indiana consisting of not less than One Thousand and Ninety-six (1096) street lamps supplied from the OVERHEAD. DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM of the Contractor. Such overhead lamps shall be as follows:
